Energy conservation is an important element of energy policy.
Conservation reduces the energy consumption and energy demand per
capita and thus offsets some of the growth in energy supply needed to
keep up with population growth. This reduces the rise in energy costs,
and can reduce the need for new power plants, and energy imports.

Although we have experienced reduced energy prices in the past year
partly due to the recession, conservation is still an important
strategy in reducing your overall costs of heating, cooling and
transportation. So, the question is: what are you doing to conserve
energy personally? What changes would you like to see implemented in
your workplace or in your community to save energy?
