at UCHI

You are welcome to an amazing, outdoor screening at Uchi (voted Best Food in Austin by Zagat, 2010). This FREE screening is a true celebration of Japanese retro cinema. Whether you come for the film or the incredible food, this will be an event to remember. No tickets required. Language: Japanese (w/ English Subtitles)

TAQWACOREL The Birth of Punk Islam

Taqwacore chronicles the nascent Muslim punk rock movement in America. It was inspired by the work of Michael Knight, who converted to Islam in rebellion against his white-supremacist father. He went on to pen the novel The Taqwacores (a term combining the Muslim concept of God consciousness with hardcore punk), a manifesto for disillusioned Islamic teens. Soon young Muslim musicians were contacting him and a tour idea was hatched

 

The Why

On Tuesday night, March 16, The U.S. Premier of The film “The Why” will be the featured event at The First RxSM Self-Medicated Film Expo, Sponsored by UV Vodka and hosted by The Belmont in Austin Tx.   “The Why” will be screened at 9:00 pm on the Patio as part of a Triple-Feature of Award Winning Films.
