The past 3 years as President of your Ateneo Alumni Association Cebu, Inc. (AAACI) has been quite interesting and frustrating! The first frustration was when we lost to La Salle the 3 years ago in the Cebu Golf Classic for the first time in 6 years, mainly because many of our golfers were not available for one reason or the other.

Getting people together to even meet has been a big concern because most of us are busy. We need to ensure that we plan way ahead so people have better chances of making time for our AAACI.

The past few activities, however, have been quite encouraging. We have won the last 2 golf classics vs. La Salle and are poised to win our 2nd perpetual trophy if we win again next year. Our support to the Blue Eagles was not just in terms of good wishes and prayers but even in the practice games here in Cebu that culminated with the Blue Night with no less than Fr. Nebres attending; and which redirected our focus not only to the Sesquicentennial celebration with the themes: Celebrating Excellence, Deepening Spirituality, and Building the Nation, but also in trying to pay forward to our alma mater.

I'd like to thank all of you who have helped in various ways to keep the "LUX IN DOMINO" shining brightly in Cebu. I would now want to focus on letting others make that light shine brighter. Following are the nominees for next years' board of AAACI:

1. Nelson Yu
2. Marissa Fernan
3. Jenjen Amigo
4. Toby Florendo
5. Jovi Neri
6. Jopox Palma
7. Jourdan Polotan
8. Francis Onglatco
9. Chessy Mia Bontol
10. Chona Floro
11. Mariano Boy Tan
12. Enrique Sotelo
13. Angeli Uy
14. Chloe Lopez
15. Jedd Go

As you may note, the above are composed of incumbents and new blood with a representation of all decades. Jack, John and I along with other incumbent board members like Tony del Prado, will remain active in AAACI without necessarily being on the board. Unless there are any other nominees who are willing and able to be on the board, we will have a motion to proclaim the above as our new board for 2010. Otherwise, please respond with other nominees to this email or vouch for the willingness and ability of your nominee at registration tonight. We will also ask you to cast your vote at registration to include your nominees.

Please pass on to other Jesuit alumni. Thanks

See you tonight!
