Dear Sir,
I am really concerned on hearing about your health problems. Pray you recover soon and continue your valuable contribution to this forum.
And to continue the debate of people with irrelevant or insufficient background getting into any type of Consultancy, let alone SAP Consultancy.
We are the victims of some very "ordinary" if not sub-standard consultants who are really wet behind the years.
Till I came into the field of SAP (as a Core team Member) after 15+ Years of hands- on functional experience, the consultants I have seen used to have rich experience in the field they claim to be consultants and had something to offer to the Client.
But some of the consultants who came for SAP implementation either did not have sufficient qualifications or sufficient functional experience or sufficient knowledge in SAP itself or any or all of these. Some of them claimed to have SAP certification itself.
Is it not high time that SAP
- introduces a code of Ethics for "SAP Consultants"
- lay down strict yardsticks for even being admitted to the certification exam. Perhaps a rigorous examination in the Subject matter of teh functional module itself.
Please do not construe this message as being discouraging to newcomers. But people who are good in their subject have to realize that in the current scenario of "SAP Consultants"- at least whom I have seen- bad seem to outweigh the good.

Siddique

Hi Tim and thanks for your kind words. Unfortunately I am
out of commission right now - I was rushed into hospital a
week ago with kidney failure and complications, possibly
caused by a bug picked up in Bulgaria. This is my second
bout of major illness this year.
That is also something potential consultants have to take on
board. Apart from the stress of travelling on yourself and
your family, there is always the chance of serious illness
and you do not have a safety net. If I fall ill, I stop
earning. My private health insurance does not cover all the
costs so suddenly I am lying on my back while my bank
balance shrinks alarmingly. I pay tax in advance on the
basis of estimated figures so I have to get my tax adviser
to revise the estimates rapidly otherwise the taxman will
grab more than I have got (and I am still paying for the
last time he did that). That is additional stress you do not
need when you are ill. And, if you are too ill to ever work
again ...
Let's not go there, eh?
