Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Production Supervisor, the Library Technician produces Library events and content in pursuit of AADL’s strategic goals and initiatives. This position focuses on the planning, promotion, and production of technology-intensive events for library patrons of all ages as well as the production of original audio, video, and web content in conjunction with AADL’s production team and the Events & Marketing Departments.

This position will be required to work evenings and weekend hours as part of the regular work schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following; other duties as assigned:
Plans and organizes public events, working with staff throughout the organization; book rooms and arranges needed resources.
Sets up and produces technically complex events, including troubleshooting equipment, accommodating last-minute presenters, and monitoring equipment during events.
Records audio and video in conjunction with AADL productions and projects; edits, enhances, and exports digital content into specified formats.
Works with Production & IT staff members to maintain and update AADL’s event and production equipment.
Develops and contributes to the content and development of the Library’s web presence.
Assists in maintaining and blogging current program and event information on the Library Website.
Provides production support for events initiated by other library departments; works to ensure a successful, professional experience for event attendees.
Assists in maintaining files and digital databases to be used in Library publications and promotions.

Minimum Qualifications include:

Associate’s degree from a two-year college or technical school; or one to two year’s related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
One to two years experience providing direct customer service.
Strong public service commitment and positive attitude.
Familiarity with digital A/V event and production equipment, including audio mixing & video editing.
Proven ability to develop customer relationships while working within a public policy framework.
Strong organizational skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Experience blogging and contributing to an online Content Management System.
Strong ability to work in stressful, one-on-one situations, often involving a demanding public in a busy urban setting.

Preferred Qualifications include:
Successful experience over a significant period of time providing direct customer service in a public library setting.
Significant knowledge about professional audio and video production and photography.
Proven experience hosting events for all ages.
