Can a principal member please post the status of the Faire?
I've seen very little info of this kind, and time is getting short.

Even if you don't have a layout yet, at least a Preliminary
Exhibitor and Sponsor list would be nice to see, to help us promote it.

To prevent email confusion, I'd suggest simply creating and
posting a simple one-page Event Page for the PAGES area,
with the current status info. That way, we can simply go to it,
or point others to it.

(One of my other groups have an editable Next Meeting page
like this, which I thought was a GREAT idea!)

Thanks!

The Faire is going well. A lot of activity is going on behind the scenes.

We had great response from potential exhibitors by the August 4
deadline, and have filled all the exhibit spots. A list of invited
exhibits has been posted on the main website since the 8th.
Exhibitors who filed by the deadline were notified of acceptance some
time ago.

Posters should be available shortly. We'll probably have the first
round of sponsors on them as well as on the website.

The exhibitor packet will be going out shortly; it is pending final
legal issues. Exhibitors--please watch for this, there's important
information there!

Things are going great.
here is a preliminary list of exhibitors. and we are talking tonight about adding a few more late applicants. Sponsorships will be going up on the site soon and we have poster designs worked out. Postering will occur over the next week.

if you know anybody who wants to sponsor have them contact me directly at ad...@northisup.com

Several items, for the meeting tonight:

1) For the benefit of those coming to show, please discuss tonight
and advise us tomorrow if there is a Display Standard of any sort.

It would be NICE to have a "Suggested Standard for High Banners"
IOW, please define these three items:
A) Banner(H,W) max size, including pole width,
B) Dual Pole Stand max height from the floor, to the banner's top
C) Supplied Table Height, from surface to floor
(The last one allows you to calculate Max Height, for a Table Pole set, or
a Backboard display. Alt: (C) Simply define a Backboard Max Height & Width.)

A Suggested Banner Standard allows us to all announce our table or
booth's contents in a consistent manner, and we won't have to worry
about ceiling collisions nor interfering with other booth's displays,
(which you'll probably have, without a Standard defined)...

BTW, FYI I talked to Rick Chownyk yesterday (President of the Metro
Detroit Metal Working Club). He said although he didn't have a chance
to apply, if you have some outdoor space he WOULD be willing to
bring out and run his Aluminum Foundry Demo like he did at a recent
GO-Tech meeting. It was a VERY popular demo, but it needs outdoors space
due to fumes, etc. Please discuss tonight if you wish his demo there, and
if so I'll connect you to him.

Also, the RepRap Michigan group and WAFL / FIRST Robotics had applied for
space (though we both got in late... Sorry...) Please let me know tomorrow
whether or not you do have space for them, so I can let the groups know.

FYI, to give you options, if this is going to be only an indoor event with
limited space, the FIRST demo can simply be a single robot on display
in a static single booth space instead of a running area as was originally
requested in the application. I have teams ready and willing to cover
EITHER a "single booth static display", OR to run in an open area we can
floor with drop panels and surround with railing.

Thanks, and good luck with the meeting!
