WHEN: Thursday at 5:00pm - 8:00pm |
| WHERE: Ecology Center (339 E. Liberty St, Suite 300, Ann Arbor) |
The Ecology Center is excited to host Green Drinks in March, and we'd love for you to join us!
We've been having some conversations recently about diversity and inclusion in the environmental movement, so we thought that focusing this month's green drinks on that topic would be a great opportunity for us to explore and learn about this even more with a broader group of people. We'll plan to structure the evening around discussions about the state of diversity in the environmental movement, as well as time for us to share best practices, challenges, questions, and ideas about this work. We'll most likely start by discussing Dorceta Taylor's report called "The State of Diversity in Environmental Organizations" (link: http://diversegreen.org/report/)
Due to happy coincidence, it looks like UM will be hosting some events and talks with Dr. Robert Bullard on that day, which fits in really well with what we'll be discussing. We'd like to invite everyone to attend Dr. Bullard's talk entitled "The Quest for Just and Sustainable Communities: Why Equity Matters.", which will take place from 5-6:30 PM on UM's campus.
From 6:30-8:00, the Ecology Center will host a debrief of Dr. Bullard's talk and a discussion about our roles in this work. We will provide some beverages and snacks, but everyone is encouraged to bring something to share.
