Job Description
Ingenex is looking for an experienced Web designer with proven creative and design talent and strong knowledge of web development. We want someone who is fun to work with, who can deliver on schedule, and really WOW the client. Our goal is to “delight digital users” and our web designer plays a critical role in the success of this mission.
We want someone who works with open source CMS Wordpress or Drupal sites. We want a usability expert, with keen instincts on usability issues and best practices in building web sites.
Ingenex is looking for an individual who is detail-oriented with strong project management skills and consistent attention to detail. A team player who can also act independently under general direction. We want you to love your job of building and launching amazing websites for our clients, and for our internal projects at Ingenex. You will work under the direction of the Client Experience Manager and be an important part of a growing Ann Arbor Digital Agency.
The web designer must have high understanding of current authoring languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), editing and authoring tools (Wordpress or Drupal CMS), search engine optimization, and related website technologies (hand coding required). Knowledge and understanding of internet operations and functionality with ability and desire to learn a wide range of internet methodologies and tools. Individual must be teachable and solution oriented with a focus on constant improvement. Ability to both design the creative concepts and implement them into a CMS.
Additional Job Responsibilities:
- Lead designer on Ingenex website projects. Will meet with clients to define scope, help Ingenex develop proposals and schedule for development, then design and build the websites upon client approval.
- Ongoing management and updates of Ingenex client sites. Including modifications, improvements, content updates, module and plugin updates.
- Assess new standards, technologies and web trends, and formulate strategies and plans for future enhancement of websites.
- Hand code HTML, CSS and JavaScript; uploads pages to CMS; ensures Web sites are accessible from a variety of different browser environments.
- Develops, researches, writes/edits and creates layouts for new sections / features; ensures Web content is current; maintains Web site templates and image archives.
- Handle other interactive design projects for Ingenex and its clients including HTML emails, social media graphics, banner advertising, etc.
- Launch site on hosting provider, and ensure sites are working properly. Ongoing maintenance and updates of sites and security.
Desired Skills & Experience
JOB EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (years and type of specific experience):
5-7 years work experience in creative Website design and programming, to include implementations from high level concept design to full-scale website launch and implementation. Experience with HTML5, XHTML, CSS2/3, jQuery, etc. Familiarity with developing modern, cross-browser/platform responsive design. WordPress or Drupal theme development experience. PHP knowledge. Adobe CS 5+ experience - Illustrator and Photoshop, Dreamweaver a plus. SEO knowledge is essential. Porfolio Review Required.
