U of M January Zouk Social: Saturday 1/17, 7pm, Ann Arbor

Hey contact community, happy Friday! A few people have mentioned they’re interested in checking out Brazilian Zouk, a social partner dance style that you could fairly describe as an interesting intermediate between contact improv and most social partner dance styles. It has a leader and follower and is danced standing up and to music, but it also features free-flowing body movement and a contemplative, connection-focused cultural orientation. The U of M zouk club’s monthly social, which is currently the best attended regular zouk event in our area and a great way to get a feel for the style, is tomorrow in the Anderson Room on the first floor of the Michigan Union. Class at 7, social starts at 8.

Don’t worry, we zoukers love to see new faces and we dance with absolute beginners all the time!
