Hello everyone! This is an email for anyone interested in the CI Lab series that was talked about at a few different jams at this point.
Our first lab will take place on February 22nd from 10am-noon at Gretchen's House in A2 on Oak Valley Drive. The Lab is a place for peer-to-peer instruction and skill sharing to take place. If you are completely new to CI it would be a good idea to go to a few classes before coming to the lab so that you can get more out of it.
The cost will just be the rental cost of $70 split between the attendees. The more that come, the more affordable it is :D
The agenda for the first lab was created by Moss and I, but we welcome anyone else interested in facilitating or creating exploration topics to take on that responsibility in the future. We have a WhatsApp group that you can join where we talk more about this stuff beforehand: join with this link.
Agenda:
**Warmup section ~30mins**
solo stretching/warmup
opening circle
"Connective Tissue and Limb Momentum"
- Moss and I went to a connective tissue workshop at Dance Camp New England, which is a CI heavy dance festival in Western MA. It was taught by a CI teacher actually, and we wanted to offer a primer on it with some simple exercises, as well as how we think it applies to CI movements.
**Exploration Topic 1 ~30-45mins**
Leverage Points/Lift Points
- The purpose of this topic is to find leverage and lift points from multiple different angles of approach, to better navigate CI dance flow.
Come back as group and share what we learned
**Exploration Topic 2 ~30-45mins**
Push/Pull AKA Recoil Movement
- The purpose of this topic is to explore the momentum swings that naturally occur in duet movement, and how to incorporate the leverage points/lift points on the "return/recoil" moment to set us up for flowing effortless lifts/weightlessness
Come back as group and share what we learned
**Free time/Jam if there is extra time**
**Closing circle and discuss topics for next lab**
