asn1c & PER

Two questions:

1. Why would I prefer this to asn1c?

2. Are there any plans to support PER?

If a2c generates code more useful to you, you would prefer a2c. We
think that is / will be the case for many ASN.1 modules, but we don't
have any strong data for that yet.

Not yet. Most applications that we are interested in (security
standards) use DER and BER only. PER can be added, of course.
