Welcome to the Ann Arbor Bleep Bloop Collective mailing list!

We are a new group of people interested about the world of modular synthesis, also known as Eurorack.

Modular synths, where sound is designed via patch cables sending varying voltages to electronic boxes, were among the first electronic instruments ever made, but fell out of mainstream use as technology improved and synthesizers could fit into manageable instruments.

However, formats like Eurorack continue to inspire the imagination for some folks, especially those interested in both the engineering aspects of music making, as well as the more adventurous, experimental artists among us.

This group currently meets monthly in the Ann Arbor area. People of ALL skill levels are welcome. We will be focusing on free and inexpensive tools, such as VCV Rack software (http://www.vcvrack.com/) to start, as these are a much smaller barrier of entry than dropping a few thousand on custom gear. However, if someone wanted to bring their modular synths to a meetup, I don't think anyone would mind. :)

The main point of this mailing list is to inform members of upcoming events; the monthly meet-up, other group meetings in the area (such as the North Coast Modular folks), demos or concerts, etc.

That said, this mailing list currently allows any member to send messages to the group as a way to foster community building, but we do ask some common sense rules are followed:

- Don't be a jerk.

- Don't be condescending. We are all here to learn. There are no stupid questions.

- Please keep conversations on topic. On-topic can be construed fairly widely here, but generally speaking, if what you're talking about doesn't (eventually) pertain to modular synthesis, Eurorack, VCV Rack, music making or production, etc, maybe take it to another space.

- No politics.

- Don't spam the list. Please be mindful of others' attention.

- Hate speech, antisocial behavior, and generally Being A Jerk are 100% not allowed, and will lead to a lifetime ban from the group, both online and offline. Consider this your one and only warning.
