Just wandering what everyone's plans are for the imminent future.

I have registered and paid for the Film & TV course, starting Feb 11.

In the meantime I have manage to buy a copy of the Advanced Creative
Writing coursebook and I am working my way through the first two
sections of that on my own. It's as if I've started the course, but
without a tutor or fellow students.

This means that when I come to take the course officially I should
have the first two TMA's in a rough draft. That'll help, because the
start of the course will overlap with my Film and TV revision and
exam.

I got bored two days after finishing A215!

What have I been doing? Luckily I had a blitz period back at Easter
and more or less finished A215.

Around then, I visited and had lunch with a moderately successful
author
who had that very morning sent off his fourth novel. I obviously did
not fawn enough
because he hasn't returned my emails since – but I recall Lu saying
something perspicacious
about authors which sums up the experience.

I mention this visit as it was the last thing I managed to do on my
own two legs.
A few days later, my spinal surgery reached its sell-by date and I
lost the rest of March and April.
June was coming out of a Tramadol haze and fighting with dull doctors
and smarmy specialists.

I hobble around with a stick on level ground for a bit now, and at
home more than out.
You won't be seeing me at group meetings [but you didn't before
anyway].

Currently I am assembling my third book of poetry, tentatively titled
"Dreams of the Aspen Tree",
and editing (reducing by a tenth – Stephen King: On Writing) the
second part of a SF trilogy
that needs pruning of all verbosity before I go on to finally finish
the third part.

I too got a copy of the Advanced Creative Writing workbook, though it
is laguishing somewhere unread
until I absolutely HAVE to look at it. No courses means reading all
those novels I set aside in term-time.

As well as A363, I'm down for E303 the "grammar in context" course,
which will probably be my final OU course.

P.S.
Is this group strictly for the former A215 local group?
I [and I'm sure most who FaceBook] have made quite a few A215 contacts
a bit further afield.

Hi guys,

It's lovely to hear from you again. I'm not that familiar with google
groups so I'm not sure what to click on at the mo :/

I've decided to plum for a BA in literature (I must be mad to think
I'll complete it - or just blissfully deluded). I was hoping to take
the advanced writing course, but have some other things to finish
first. I'm going to do a short ten pointer on Shakespeare in October
swiftly followed by The arts past and present in Feb.

I hope you're all keeping well - I've missed you! I've not long joined
facebook, so if you see me on there add me! I only have 11 friends so
far (and one of them looks like a paedophile).

Hi Paul,

Firstly, thank you very much for your comments on my short piece. It's
nice to know I haven't completely lost my knack over the summer.

Secondly, I hope you are feeling well after your horrors in March and
April.

I think it would be great if this group could become something bigger
than just an A215 group. I think that is the only way it will survive
past the summer, when everyone is onto other courses. If we have non-
OU people as members, then they may be able to sustain it a lot
better.

I will amend the permissions so that anyone can join. If you'd like to
send them an email with the address, I think they can join from the
homepage.

Thank you again,
Liam
