I finally got up the nerve to try this fix (copying a couple folders
from the xcode 4.3 installation into xcode 4.2), and had some strange
results.
I copied the folders as recommended. Then, when I ran xcode, it only
showed the iPad simulators as options for how to run my project, i.e.
no option to run on my oPhone or on any iPhone simulators. Then I quit
xcode and deleted the folders I had copied and ran xcode again. It now
shows all simulator options AND allows me to run on my iPhone. So this
seems to have solved the problem (thanks) but has left me deeply
mystified.
Any idea what's going on?
