I’m working on an internal project, that might have legs. After looking at Parse and Azure, I’m leaning towards using Parse. Other than being owned by Facebook which bugs the crap out of me. What do people think of using Parse?

What else should I consider?

Things that are important to me:
1) Support for easy login, ideally using multiple providers. (Parse supports app based accounts, plus FB & Twitter).
2) Swift support (Parse seems to have this)
3) Simple relational support between objects
4) Support for iOS & Android
5) Reasonable pricing for low to moderate usage

My app is fairly simple, so I may just go ahead and build it on Parse, and see what I hate, but I’d love to know as much as possible in advance.

Thanks for any thoughts you care to share,

Dave

You might consider Amazon Services. I don't think it would be quite as easy to adopt as Parse, but it would probably scale better and Amazon isn't likely to kill their APIs.

Haven't used it personally but people I know who have used Parse have been happy with it .

I have integrated Parse.com, both pre-FB and post-FB, with a half-dozen increasingly complex iOS apps over the last few years with generally positive results.

They have unexplained/unlogged downtime (there status page is always green), however that seems to be less frequent post-FB.  I believe Parse sits on AWS as we have seen both Parse and AWS instances down simultaneously on a few occasions.
Support pre-FB was exceptional (same day email response), post-FB it has been combined with general FB support with no response.

1000 query limit is odd, but can be coded around.
robust push notification via APNS.
cloud code and hosting covers most server side needs nicely.

Priya,

My name name is Tim Berla. I've seen you and perhaps spoken with you at Cocoaheads meetings in the past.

I've done quite a bit of contracting with Arbormoon for the past several years. I'm curious to see whether I might be a good fit for the position you are looking to fill. I've attached my resume'.

Just thought I'd mention that I believe I spoke with someone from Invicara about another position last year.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Tim Berla
