The Prophet (pbuh) said: “Whoever would like his rizq (provision) to be increased and his life to be extended, should uphold the ties of kinship.” (Bukhari/Muslim)

How much energy does it take to call up our grandma or our uncle just to say hello? For some, it is effortless, for others it could even be awkward. But remember that God rewards us for our effort as well, so if we feel that we are a little estranged from our family members, let us pick up the phone just to say salaam. It may seem strange at first, but these small gestures go a long way.
Extra ajr of course if you arrange a much-needed family get-together, inshAllah!
