I am spending 5 points to make this proposal, bringing my score to 13 points. The proposal includes changes to the following rules:
212.2: Active players become Inactive when they fail to interact with the game for 48 hours.
213: When a player changes from Active to Inactive for any reason their grade is lowered by one step.

These changes are to be entered under "Tracking the State of the Game":
212.2: Active players become Inactive when they fail to vote on three consecutive proposals to change the rules.
213: When a player changes from Active to Inactive for any non-elective reason their grade is lowered one step.
213.1: A player may elect to become Inactive by posting a new top-level post to the A Simple Nomic Google Group with the word "Inactivity" in the title and the "declaration" tag.

It is patently obvious that it is far too easy to become Inactive! I propose that we make it harder to fall inactive, while simultaneously making it easier to track who fails to vote. Also, I think it prudent that we create a method for players to elect to become Inactive without suffering a penalty. This is not least because I'm going camping for a week on the 1st of June...

Agree

I agree with my own proposal, of course...

Disagree.

This could cause a person to become inactive in just a few hours if everyone else is extra active in that time and push through multiple proposals very quickly.  I do like the part about the voluntary inactivity though.

I really can't think of a better way to do it; tracking Inactivity right now is a real pain, with no easy way to track the last time someone contributes. I do agree that this might cause some difficulty if several proposals get pushed through quickly but at the moment there is little chance that so many proposals will be made; the pace of the game is slow enough, and rule 212.2 can be adjusted to 5, or 12 proposals when the game starts moving faster.

According to the current rules, everyone is now inactive because the last vote on anything was more than 48 hours ago
