Rule 14: When a player submits a rule or rule change that passes and is included in the rules, the player's grade is increased one step (C>B, etc)
Rule 14a: Each player that voted yes on a passing rule gets 1 point. Points are tallied on the "Players" page of the Google page. When a player reaches 5 points, the player's grade is increased one step.

I think it should be much harder to progress in rank due to my proposed rule. Reaching A would happen very quickly

I'm voting no, but there's a proposed points system that I am interested in that seems to have been abandoned by the original poster. I suggest taking a look at it, as there was some discussion regarding how it could be implemented; perhaps the two ideas can be melded into something particularly interesting.

I do think that the ranks should become a measure of how frequently a particular player posts proposals and stays in touch with the group It should be pretty hard to rise through ranks.

A points system is a good measure of how good a player the individual is. Having both is a good idea, but no-one has made a particularly good case for how the points system should work yet!

I think it should be a little less difficult to reach A, because if a player ends up having to become inactive because of an extended internet-less period or something, it is pretty easy to drop ranks. So regaining them should be not enormously hard. Perhaps we make the ranks more difficult to achieve as they move up the ranks?

That I like. Each rank is progressively harder. Let's see something like that

As it stands becoming inactive is only one drop, regardless of the length of inactivity.

I'd vote for 14a by itself.

That one actually leads to the possibility of people voting for controversial rule changes, just to see things pass; not so sure about that!

Of course, according to the current rules, my NO vote immediately kills this proposal.
