Title: Users' searches for internal users in Microsoft Teams aren't providing any results
User impact: Users' searches for internal users in Microsoft Teams aren't providing any results.
More info: Users can avoid this issue by creating chats with other internal users with the following steps below while we work on mitigation:
1) Open the Outlook desktop client
2) Click on the Home tab
3) Click on the "Address book" button
4) Use the search box to find the person you're looking for
5) Right click the person, then select "Add to Contacts"
6) Copy the email address
7) Paste it into either Teams or a new email
Current status: We're continuing to apply the same mitigation strategy by splitting large index files into smaller segments. However, due to the volume of files involved, progress is taking longer than anticipated. We'll share an estimated completion timeline as soon as it's available.
Scope of impact: Your organization is affected by this event, and the problem impacts users performing searches for internal users in the Microsoft Teams desktop and web clients.
Start time: Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at 1:09 PM UTC
Root cause: An issue with large index files is caused by indexing not being properly partitioned as expected, resulting in impact.
Next update by: Monday, September 15, 2025, at 5:00 PM UTC
