Title: Users may be unable to access Wi-Fi or VPN on Android devices
User impact: Users may be unable to access their Wi-Fi or VPN on Android devices that require a certificate from Microsoft Intune.
More info: Users may be affected if they require a new SCEP certificate delivery from Microsoft Intune to access their Wi-Fi or VPN on newly targeted Android devices that don't already have a valid certificate. Users with existing valid SCEP certificates aren't affected by this behavior and are able to access network connections as expected.
However, regardless of whether certificates already exist on the device, users on Android devices leveraging SCEP certificate profiles may be blocked from receiving any other targeted configuration policy. Admins may also be affected and may see errors in the SCEP policy console for the associated policy status in Microsoft Intune.
Current status: We've identified an issue affecting the Microsoft Intune service after receiving reports of impact from users and admins. Our analysis has determined that a recent change to the Microsoft Intune service intended to improve reliability and make certificate delivery more resilient contained a code regression, which is impacting certificate delivery and leading to impact. We're initiating a fix to roll back this change and resolve impact for all users and admins.
Scope of impact: Any user or admin may be affected by this event, and may be unable to access their Wi-Fi or VPN on Android devices that require a certificate from Microsoft Intune. This section may be updated as our investigation continues.
Start time: Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 10:25 PM UTC
