Greetings all-

I am sending you this note on behalf of my friend and brother Mwapagha Mkonu aka DJ Mpenzi. I have been djing with Mpenzi since 1999, we formed the Knowmadic DJs soon after. He is a good soul, a cool cat, and an excellent dj -- as I am sure you know. He never hesitates to help a friend or have someone's back -- as I am sure you know as well.

As long as I have known him, he has longed to return to his native Kenya, where he left his family at the age of 19. He has struggled and hustled as all of us have in different ways, but it has been many years and he still has not had the opportunity. 

This Sunday, October 24 is his born day, and fittingly we are celebrating at his weekly free Sundays musical gift to Oakland and the Bay Area: MAJOR at Somar Bar. In return, let's gift him with some funds to help send him home... rather than buying him a drink, let's pool our funds to contribute to his trip! Donations will be accepted at the door and a Paypal will be set up as well.
