Just a short note to let you know that for the upcoming elections for AU Commissioners in January 2017, Zimbabwe has two candidates:

 *   Dr Pride Chigwedere, for Commissioner for Social Affairs
 *   Dr Hesphina Rukato, for Commissioner for Political Affairs

I suppose many of you already know the candidates. Dr Chigwedere is here in Addis working for UNAIDS as a Senior Advisor to the AU, and Dr Rukato was until recently at the AUC as Deputy Chief of Staff. I have asked the candidates for additional information (campaign messages, brochures etc.) to share with all of you, as well as their thoughts on how all of us can assist in getting them elected.

As follow up to the below email, I have received electronic brochures from Dr Chigwedere. As you will see, the brochure summarizes his CV as well as Vision for the Social Affairs department, for which he is a candidate. I suggest the following:

• that we all familiarize ourselves with the content so that we are able to discuss and market our candidate as the best qualified for Social Affairs (which I think he is)
• circulate the brochures to all our African friends, especially here in Addis, and where possible, follow up with discussions. Our African colleagues are concentrated at the AUC, ECA and Embassies, and with each of us sharing with work colleagues and friends, all of them can get to know about our candidate and his suitability for Social Affairs, and this information will ultimately impact on those who vote.

Dr Chigwedere and the Embassy have some hard copies of the brochures, for those that may need, as well as other languages for the brochure. 

 

I will circulate material from Dr Rukato as soon as she sends.
