4-Month Tour of TX-LA for Livestrong, On Deck for Jan-Apr, 2012

I've been contemplating this for quite a while, have decided now that I will...will be biking all around Texas for 3 months, Louisiana for a month, during January- April 2012, hoping to raise funds for Lance Armstrong's anti-cancer foundation here in Austin, Livestrong. I have some personal inspiration to do this, as I've lost two of my best friends ever in the last few years to cancer, both in their 30's, and I'd made a Livestrong donation in honor of one of them a few years ago.
I don't have much of anything to start with on this daunting journey, but one certain awesome bike shop has already pledged all of the bike equipment that I'll need and enough money to help me to survive for at least the 1st of the 17 grueling but exhilarating weeks.
It's my hope that ABS and/or its members will choose to participate in and support this effort in any of a variety of ways, ways that i've come up with and maybe in ways you'll come up with as well. It's also my hope that ABS' efforts & campaigns may somehow derive some sort of benefit from this event as well.
I have wha's maybe a bad tendency to maintain my bike-centric lifestyle at most any cost to myself, and now I'm getting maybe even more bike-eccentric about it in my old age (I turn 40 this February). I hopefully look forward to working with you in whatever capacity during this campaign, and thank you, thank you so much for accelerating the effort to help Shreveport find more humane ways to treat its cyclists & pedestrians.
