Compliments of the season...

I hope we all had great holidays,

So as we are all aware that there were some catastrophic floods in December of last year in Dar es Salaam, these are some factual  numbers:

"Dar es Salaam recently experienced devastating floods resulting from the heaviest rainfall in 55 years, according to the Tanzania Meteorological Agency. A quick assessment by the Tanzania Red Cross estimated the total number of people affected by the floods at over 50,000 (approximately 10,000 families), and to date about 10,000 people (approximately 2,000 families) had been displaced and were being accommodated in temporary holding centers. Over 200 people have been injured, with approximately 2,500 people missing, mostly children, and 39 people have been confirmed dead."

And  as AIESEC both alumni and members, i thought this is a test to us also as in how faithful are we to our founding principles and values of making a positive impact in the society. I was suggesting that, we help by giving out clothes(both those that no longer fit us, long forgotten in our wardrobes  or even those that we love the most that can put a smile on a victim's face) to victims. One would imagine that if water was rising up to the roof levels, people were mainly concerned about saving their lives more than things such as clothes. So we can help out by giving out anything that we think can be useful to someone. So as alumnus we can just bring the items to our offices and then notify AIESEC members to come and pick them up who will then take them to the victims ( I hope current AIESEC leaders will not find difficulties in coordinating such a task) AIESEC can also conduct the same exercise amongst Universities and Colleges  where we are present.

This will be my suggestion for now.

Just a reminder lest we forget  "AIESEC was formed after  a devastating war"

Regards,

Dear AIESEC ALUMNI ,

I hope each one of us has got the email from Tatenda and is touched. As Alumni of AIESEC, I expect that we still have the same spirit of making a positive difference in this world and now especially with our own people as victims of floods. This is our chance to do something extra to add us blessings. We would like to have you sharing with us anything that you might want to give, be it clothes, food, books, money or anything.

DELIVERY:
For those who can make it to the AIESEC house at Sinza Mori (or anywhere near by and we will come for you) and bring whatever they  have to give; or if you might fail to get to the house and your office is in town,  then  AIESECERs will be passing by your offices to collect the stuff on Friday.  Please communicate to me, or Emmanuel through the following numbers
0715132578 (mine)
0715679909 (Emmanuel).

TIME:
Time is not by our side as we plan to visit these people on Saturday of 14th January.  So the collecting of things should be between thursday, friday and no later than Saturday morning.

We would like for you to join us as well, so if you will have time then please let us know through those numbers.

I encourage for further communication to take place over the phone for efficiency since we have a day or two to go.
Thank you so much, AIESEC is looking forward to your involvement.

Kind Regards,

Falecia.
