Your living is determined

not so much by what life brings to you

as by the attitude you bring to life;

not so much by what happens to you

as by the way your mind looks at what happens.

- John H. Miller

There is only the moment. The now.

Only what you are experiencing at this second is real.

This does not mean you live for the moment.

It means you live in the moment.

-Leo Buscaglia

When I'm bewildered and overwhelmed,

I seek the gentle guidance of a person

I know will respond with compassion.

Life is complicated enough without having to listen to

the caustic remarks of someone's misdirected strength.

- Patsy Clairmont

The road that is built in hope

is more pleasant to the traveler

than the road built in despair,

 even though they both lead

to the same destination.

– Marian Zimmer Bradley

Celebrate Your Anniversary Here

SHOW NEWCOMERS HOW IT WORKS!!

Send your sober date and location to :

so...@yourdailyreprieve.com

I always thought that posting our locations with our anniversaries was a great way to show newcomers that AA is all over the world. So I wish you would send your locations with your anniversary dates. We don't celebrate for our own benefit.

We celebrate anniversaries to show the program works.

If we add our locations we get to show

that AA works EVERYWHERE!

12&12

Tradition Seven - "Every A.A. group ought to be fully self-supporting, declining outside contributions."

"I heard all this quite plainly, as I was piously trying to convert a newcomer who sat next to me. The hat came in my direction, and I reached into my pocket. Still working on my prospect, I fumbled and came up with a fifty-cent piece. Somehow it looked like a very big coin. Hastily, I dropped it back and fished out a dime, which clinked thinly as I dropped it in the hat. Hats never got folding money in those days.

TWENTY-FOUR HOURS

A.A. Thought For The Day

We should be free from alcohol for good.

It's out of our hands and in the hands of God,

so we don't need to worry about it or even think about it any more. But if we haven't done this honestly and fully,

the chances are that it will become our problem again.

Since we don't trust God to take care of our problem for us,

we reach out and take the problem back to ourselves.

Then it's our problem again and we're in the same old mess we were in before. Do I trust God to take care of the problem for me?

Meditation For The Day

No work is of value without preparation.

Every spiritual work must have behind it much

spiritual preparation. Cut short times of prayer and times

of spiritual preparation and many hours of work may be profitless. From the point of view of God, one poor tool

working all the time, but doing bad work because of lack of preparation, is of small value compared with a sharp, keen,

perfect instrument working only for a short time, but that

turns out perfect work because of long hours of spiritual preparation.

Prayer For The Day

I pray that I may spend more time alone with God.

I pray that I may get more strength and joy from such times, so that they will add much to my work.

Right Living

Service, gladly rendered, obligations squarely met, troubles well accepted or solved with God's help. The knowledge that at home or in the world outside we are partners in a common effort, the well-understood fact that in God's sight all human beings are important, the proof that love freely given surely brings a full return, the certainty that we are no longer isolated and alone in self-constructed prisons, the surety that we need no longer be square pegs in round holes but can fit and belong in God's scheme of things - these are the permanent and legitimate satisfactions of right living for which no amount of pomp and circumstance, no heap of material possessions, could possibly be substitutes.

DAILY REFLECTION

WHAT? NO PRESIDENT?

When told that our Society has no president having

authority to govern it, no treasurer who can compel the

payment of any dues, . . . our friends gasp and exclaim,

"This simply can't be. . . ."

TWELVE STEPS AND TWELVE TRADITIONS, p. 132

When I finally made my way to A.A., I could not believe

that there was no treasurer to "compel the payment of

dues." I could not imagine an organization that didn't

require monetary contributions in return for a service. It

was my first and, thus far, only experience with getting

"something for nothing." Because I did not feel used or

conned by those in A.A., I was able to approach the

program free from bias and with an open mind. They

wanted nothing from me. What could I lose? I thank God

for the wisdom of the early founders who knew so well the

alcoholic's disdain for being manipulated.

POT LUCK

A Parable

There was a farmer who grew excellent quality corn. Every year he won the award for the best grown corn.

One year a newspaper reporter interviewed him and learned something interesting about how he grew it. The reporter discovered that the farmer shared his seed corn with his neighbors. “How can you afford to share your best seed corn with your neighbors when they are entering corn in competition with yours each year?” the reporter asked.

“Why sir,” said the farmer, “Didn’t you know? The wind picks up pollen from the ripening corn and swirls it from field to field. If my neighbors grow inferior corn, cross-pollination will steadily degrade the quality of my corn. If I am to grow good corn, I must help my neighbors grow good corn.”

So is with our lives... Those who want to live meaningfully and well must help enrich the lives of others, for the value of a life is measured by the lives it touches. And those who choose to be happy must help others find happiness, for the welfare of each is bound up with the welfare of all...
