I learned that it is the weak who are cruel,

One exemplary act may affect one life,

or even millions of lives.

All those who set standards for themselves,

who strengthen the bonds of community,

who do their work creditably and accept individual responsibility

 are building the common future.

BIG BOOK QUOTE

We missed the reality and the beauty of the forest because we were diverted by the ugliness of some of its trees. We never gave the spiritual side of life a fair hearing.

Celebrate Your Anniversary Here

SHOW NEWCOMERS HOW IT WORKS!!

Send your sober date and location to :

so...@yourdailyreprieve.com

I always thought that posting our locations with our anniversaries was a great way to show newcomers that AA is all over the world. So I wish you would send your locations with your anniversary dates. We don't celebrate for our own benefit.

We celebrate anniversaries to show the program works.

If we add our locations we get to show

that AA works EVERYWHERE!

Foreword

Everywhere there arose threatening questions of membership, money, personal relations, public relations, management of groups, clubs, and scores of other perplexities. It was out of this vast welter of explosive experience that A.A.'s Twelve Traditions took form and were first published in 1946 and later confirmed at A.A.'s First International Convention, held at Cleveland in 1950. The Tradition section of this volume portrays in some detail the experience which finally produced the Twelve Traditions and so gave A.A. its present form, substance, and unity.

TWENTY-FOUR HOURS

A.A. Thought For The Day

We can depend on those members of any group who have gone all out for the program. They come to meetings. They work with other alcoholics. We don't have to worry about their slipping. They're loyal members of the group. I'm trying to be a loyal member of the group. When I'm tempted to take a drink, I tell myself that if I did I'd be letting down the other members who are the best friends I have. Am I going to let them down, if I can help it?

Meditation For The Day

Wherever there is true fellowship and love between people, God's spirit is always there as the Divine Third. In all human relationships, the Divine Spirit is what brings them together. When a life is changed through the channel of another person, it is God, the Divine Third, who always makes the change, using the person as a means. The moving power behind all spiritual things, all personal relationships between

people is God, the Divine Third, who is always there. No personal relationships can be entirely right without the presence of God's spirit.

Prayer For The Day

I pray that I may be used as a channel by God's spirit. I pray that I may feel that the Divine Third is always there to help me.

Language of the Heart

From the beginning, communication in A.A. has been no ordinary transmission of helpful ideas and attitudes. It has been unusual and sometimes unique. Because of our kinship in suffering, and because our common means of deliverance are effective for ourselves only when constantly carried to others, our channels of contact have always been charged with the language of the heart.

DAILY REFLECTION

"HOLD BACK NOTHING"

The real tests of the situation are your own willingness to

confide and your full confidence in the one with whom you

share your first accurate self-survey. . . . Provided you hold

back nothing, your sense of relief will mount from minute to

minute. The dammed-up emotions of years break out of

their confinement, and miraculously vanish as soon as they

are exposed. As the pain subsides, a healing tranquility

takes its place.

TWELVE STEPS AND TWELVE TRADITIONS, p. 61-62

A tiny kernel of locked-in feelings began to unfold when I

first attended A.A. meetings and self-knowledge then

became a learning task for me. This new self-understanding

brought about a change in my responses to life's situations.

I realized I had the right to make choices in my life, and the

inner dictatorship of habits slowly lost its grip.

I believe that if I seek God I can find a better way to live

and I ask Him daily to assist me in living a sober life.

POT LUCK

Forgiveness

I heal my heart and soothe my soul through forgiveness.

If someone hurts me or someone I care about, I may feel justified holding onto anger and blame. Even if I want to release myself from rumination, I may struggle to forgive.

But forgiveness is the key to my healing. I will not condemn myself if forgiveness feels difficult. With patience and self-compassion, I start by being willing to forgive. Even if forgiveness is fleeting or the process seems slow, I begin to feel relief from my harsh feelings.

As I continue to pray for the willingness to forgive, I feel lighter and freer. Even if I do not forget the transgression that prompted my anger, forgiveness means I am no longer bound to it. Through the comfort and grace of God within me, I am able to release my pain and anger and move forward.
