BIG BOOK QUOTE

These men had found something brand new in life. Though they knew they must help other alcoholics if they would remain sober, that motive became secondary. It was transcended by the happiness they found in giving themselves for others.

Celebrate Your Anniversary Here

SHOW NEWCOMERS HOW IT WORKS!!

Send your sober date and location to :

so...@yourdailyreprieve.com

I always thought that posting our locations with our anniversaries was a great way to show newcomers that AA is all over the world. So I wish you would send your locations with your anniversary dates. We don't celebrate for our own benefit.

We celebrate anniversaries to show the program works.

If we add our locations we get to show

that AA works EVERYWHERE!

Tradition Eleven - "Our public relations policy is based on attraction rather than promotion; we need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio, and films."

The Foundation* wrote letters to practically every news outlet in North America, setting forth our public relations policy of attraction rather than promotion, and emphasizing personal anonymity as A.A.'s greatest protection. Since that time, editors and rewrite men have repeatedly deleted names and pictures of members from A.A. copy; frequently, they have reminded ambitious individuals of A.A.'s anonymity policy. They have even sacrificed good stories to this end. The force of their cooperation has certainly helped. Only a few A.A. members are left who deliberately break anonymity at the public level.

*In 1954, the name of the Alcoholic Foundation, Inc., was changed to the General Service Board of Alcoholics Anonymous, Inc., and the Foundation office is now the General Service Office.

TWENTY-FOUR HOURS

 A.A. Thought For The Day

When I came into A.A., I came into a new world. A sober

world. A world of sobriety, peace, serenity, and happiness.

But I know that if I take just one drink, I'll go right

back into that old world. That alcoholic world. That world

of drunkenness, conflict, and misery. That alcoholic world

is not a pleasant place for an alcoholic to live in. Looking

at the world through the bottom of a whiskey glass is no fun

after you've become an alcoholic. Do I want to go back to

that alcoholic world?

Meditation For The Day

Pride stands sentinel at the door of the heart and shuts out

the love of God. God can only dwell with the humble and the

obedient. Obedience to God's will is the key unlocking the

door to God's kingdom. You cannot obey God to the best of your

ability without in time realizing God's love and responding to

that love. The rough stone steps of obedience lead up to where

the mosaic floor of love and joy is laid. Where God's spirit

is, there is your home. There is heaven for you.

Prayer For The Day

I pray that God may make His home in my humble and obedient

heart. I pray that I may obey His guidance to the best of

my ability.

Sponsors

Every sponsor is necessarily a leader. The stakes are huge. A human life, and usually the happiness of a whole family, hangs in the balance. What the sponsor does and says, how well he estimates the reactions of his prospects, how well he times and makes his presentation, how well he handles criticisms, and how well he leads his prospect on by personal spiritual example . . . well, these attributes of leadership can make all the difference, often the difference between life and death. Thank God that Alcoholics Anonymous is blessed with so much leadership in each and all of its great affairs!

DAILY REFLECTION

GROWING UP

The essence of all growth is a willingness to change for the

better and then an unremitting willingness to shoulder

whatever responsibility this entails.

AS BILL SEES IT, p. 115

Sometimes when I've become willing to do what I should

have been doing all along, I want praise and recognition. I

don't realize that the more I'm willing to act differently, the

more exciting my life is. The more I am willing to help

others, the more rewards I receive. That's what practicing

the principles means to me. Fun and benefits for me are in

the willingness to do the actions, not to get immediate

results. Being a little kinder, a little slower to anger, a little

more loving makes my life better— day by day.

POT LUCK

Gracious and Loving Father, I come before You today

seeking refuge from the weight of insecurity and the

constant need for approval.

I renounce the spirit of inferiority. Lord, deliver me from

the complex that makes me feel incapable or less than

others. Remind me that I am fearfully and wonderfully

made in Your image. When I look in the mirror, help me to

see Your masterpiece instead of my own perceived flaws.

I release my hypersensitivity to the words of others. I ask

for the strength to stabilize my emotions and bring them

under Your peace. Quiet the voices—both internal and

external—that tell me I am not enough. Help me to be ‘slow

to take offense’ and to find my stability in Your unshakeable

promises rather than the shaky opinions of the world.

I surrender my need for human approval. I pray that I

would find my identity in You. I surrender my need for

human approval. I pray that I would find my identity in

You alone. May Your love cast out every shadow of doubt,

and clothe me with strength and dignity. Teach me that my

worth is not found in my successes, my education, or the

number of people who like me, but in the fact that You have

chosen and redeemed me.

Free me from the prison of self-consciousness. Give me

the courage to walk in the fullness of who You created me to

be, free from fear and embraced by Your unfailing grace.
