I wish I could join all of you. I'll probably be in western Nebraska or eastern Colorado as your meeting starts...

I've joined Alan Cash to help him with his research. This is
"exciting" (well, to me) creative thinking to achieve the lifespan
extension achieved by "calorie restriction", but without having to
give up eating {smile}. Other benefits include: improved blood sugar
management, reduced rates of cancer and improved athletic
performance. I'll plan to cover some more routine and common subjects
too. Hopefully we can have a good discussion.

I'm glad that everyone seemed to appreciate the presentation on
Oxaloacetic Acid. I know it was a bit "too technical". For me this
is exciting research as we discover important influences on our
metabolism that can have a dramatic impact on our health and lifespan.

Thanks John for everything you are doing for us!

Is the Oxaloacetic Acid something we should take only after we're supplementing all the basic vitamins A-E + Omega3 or should we start ordering this right away?

I think I speak for everyone else in saying that one of the best part about these meetings is the one on one time you have been giving each of us to patiently answer our individual questions.

Thanks again!

My personal opinion is that basic nutrition comes first. So yes, your
body needs all it's nutrients in good supply more than it needs *one*
nutrient which is showing to have some very interesting results.
Lower cost nutrients will supply more value. Vitamin C isn't "sexy"
but it's still critically important and valuable. I'm bringing you
intriguing information, but never let it overshadow the basics of good
nutrition.

Besides they are still working on getting me set up so that I can
carry it and sell it to clients.

On the good news side, LEF has decided to participate in our
research! They will be supporting my research on oxaloacetic acid by
providing some fairly expensive supplements which compliment it.

Don't some of the benefits from calorie restriction (restricted from over-doing it, as I understand it) involve the activity level of mitochondria in the cells? If so, is there any relationship to the presence of "brown fat", which is rich with mitochondria?

Just wondering...

"Calorie Restriction" as talked about by the scientists is reducing
your calorie intake by 30 to 60% from what you normally would desire.
This is *not* restricting from "over doing it". This is much more
severe and not a lifestyle I can see anyone voluntarily wanting to
do. Imagine living the rest of your life only consuming about 1200
calories a day. Yes the "Calorie Restriction Society" has some
members but I consider them "fanatics", this is not something the
average person is going to do beyond perhaps trying it for a month.

Alan (Cash) is fairly funny when he says his wife described him as
"irritable" when he tried calorie restriction.

Yes, this is very much related to the activity of the mitochondria.
Part of it is increasing the number of mitochondria per cell. I know
"brown fat" is considered good, but I haven't specifically read
anything linking calorie restriction to brown fat.

Although we may do research and supplement with concentrated
supplements, keep in mind that oxaloacetic acid is a natural nutrient
and eating apples provides much of the same nutrients. Eating an
"apple a day" is healthy, hopefully taking a capsule of oxaloacetic
acid and vitamin C is a "super charged" version of eating an apple a
day.
