For some reason I can't reply to the original thread of this name (I
still insist that Google Groups is the worst message forum software
I've ever used), so here is a copy of what I first posted (in June):
I've done a lot of research on various supplements and their claimed
benefits. Some have contradictory opinions published in various books
(and websites, etc). So how do you know if they are worth paying for?
Well, as many of you know, I like to run diagnostic tests and study
results to see how nutritional changes are reflected in "hard data".
I was a bit dismayed when one of my test results indicated my mental
age as approx 61 years old! Ouch (hey, I only just turned 50). So
not being satisfied with less than desirable results I started some
supplements specifically to enhance that figure. After a few months
(approx 8 months) of supplementation this test result has improved
enough to place me as 52 years old, that's an effective thought
process speed improvement of 10 ms (brain speed). Sure I may not get
the brain speed of a 20 year old by just supplements, but this is good
justification that my money was well spent on these supplements. And
it's enough to motivate me to shift up from minimal, conservative,
under dosing up to more effective amounts (I was conservative before
because I wasn't sure if I was just wasting my money or not).

And the update for this week is that my latest test results confirm
continued improvement demonstrating an "IGF-1 Age" now at 38 years
old. This is some of the most exciting data results I've obtained
from the past three and a half years of monitoring myself. My body
has shifted from repairing itself as if it was 61 to now functioning
as if I was 38.
Although I assume specific supplements are yielding specific results,
I'm more inclined to believe the several benefits I'm documenting
actually come from the combined benefits of all the steps I'm taking
to reduce my rate of aging.
