Hello

Well I sent a mail to the Zurich migration office regarding my visa
application

they sent me a reply in German

So I sent a mail to the Swiss Embassy in Delhi

they said that my Visa has been approved and I must submit my passport

So does that mean that I won't be getting that 95 CHF receipt from the
Swiss Migration Board ? or will I be getting it once I go for
stamping ?

In case I get the receipt, what am I supposed to do after that ?
One of you guys did mention about this in one of the posts but I
couldn't
get all the information I need. So can anyone lay out the process once
again.

Also as I had applied with the Swiss Visa Application center (VFS in
short) and not the embassy,so where should I go for the Visa
stamping : embassy or VFS

have tried contacting VFS guys, but their phone line seems to be busy
every time I call

thanks

Ashish

regarding the receipt I would recommend you to contact the rektorat's office in ETH or any person from ETH with whom you might be having regular contact.

Hello all,

Everybody gets the receipt for the 95 Francs at some point of time. Some get it alongwith the visa stamp in India itself and are required to pay it within 15 days of arriving in Switzerland. Others get it at the time of issue of the residence permit here in Switzerland. Its a compulsory fee for the Immigration office and the criteria for giving the receipt in India or in Switzerland is not clear. No need for panic though.

Kartik

Hi Ashish,

Where is your passport currently? Stamping will be done at embasssy not VFS. IF your passport is with VFS ask them to  submit it to embassy. You should call them between there contact timings mentioned on the website. Generally phone is not busy and they take the call. After stamping you need to collect it from VFS itself. Did embassy ppl asked you to collect any reciept? if  yes then  you need to go to embassy to collect the receipt. They wouldnot stamp  your passport till  you collect the receipt by yourself. If  you have ur passport then you need to directly  go to embassy stamp it and take it back.

Hello Divay.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, the passport's with me and I'll go straight to the Embassy for
stamping.
The Embassy hasn't asked me to collect any receipt. Probably, they'll
hand it
over to me once I go there for stamping.

Do I need any prior appointment with the Embassy btw ?

Thanks again

Ashish

No. You can go to the embassy any day except holidays. Check the contact timings before leaving. The morning timings are 8:30am to 9:am.

hey,

I think the delhi consulate does not inform about visa approvals. After ashish's mail I also mailed the embassy and got the reply that visa has been granted and submit passport. So, anybody who has applied in delhi more than six weeks ago should mail (or call) and ask about their status.

Hey Ashish, ( the other one obviously ) when are you planning to
visit the Embassy ?

Also does it take 5 days to the passport back once it has been
submitted with the Embassy for stamping purpose (mentioned on the
website of Swiss Embassy in New Delhi) ?

I'll be paying a visit to the Embassy tomorrow. So well get to know
the details then only. I am planning to leave on 3rd or 4th. Will
book a flight once the Visa thingy gets cleared.

Which flight have you chosen and you'll be flying from where
(airport) ?

Hi all

About the CHF 95: Sometimes, the Migration office in Zurich sends the
bill to India, sometimes they send it to me (or any office at ETH) to
hand it over to you after arrival (depends on the officer in charge).
If you don't receive it in India, please come to my office after
arrival to check whether I have it or not. Usually, the bill can be
paid AFTER immigration (this should be mentioned on the bill, but it
is usually in German....) Send me a scan if you are not sure. Anyway:
don't worry about these bills. If you don't get one, don't ask for it!
Sometimes they seem to forget to send one, but this will not have an
influence on your residence permit.

hey ashish,
You werent their in the embassy today,  I didnt saw any student. By the way, they told me to fill up one more visa application form (I think that is just for the records of embassy, they dont have my application or something). I didnt had a photo in hand so will be visiting embassy on monday. By the way, it only takes a day for stamping, you can collect your visa from embassy the other day.

Hey.
I had the notion in my mind that it will take the embassy 2-3 days.
So avoided going today as we have three days of holidays starting
from today.

What's your contact number btw ?

They didn't have your application, What does that mean ?
Also, how many photographs do they require ?

hey,

Don't freak out guys. I think its just a formality, the girl in the counter looked very cool about it. I THINK (she didnt mentioned, but the attendant outside suggested) they were unable to locate my copy of application which has to be at embassy. I have to fill up one form, so just keep a photo whoever is going to submit passport.

Remember guys, that we were asked to submit three completely filled
application forms at the time of applying
for our Visa. I guess all three of us (at least Kumar and I did) had
applied with the VFS and not with the Embassy.
The VFS is supposed to keep one form with itself and send it to the
Embassy for record-keeping purposes.
However, I think that there is some serious synchronization issues
between the two (VFS and the Embassy).
Take for instance, when I called VFS they had no clue about my Visa
and asked me to wait for another 2 weeks
while I got a mail from the Embassy (as a reply to my query) that my
Visa has been approved.

So I guess, Ashish Kumar is right. The form is just a formality and
nothing more than that.
