Has anyone received their “Confirmation of registration for matriculation” and “Matriculation Confirmation” letters from the admission office yet? Or has anyone initiated the Visa process? Also what bank, with a branch in Switzerland, are you all considering to open an account in?
I'm still waiting. Been a month. I had sent them a mail about it. They replied saying it may take another month.
The dbsse department is at Basel:-D thanks for the link.
I received my confirmation docs in march ... but i got m admit in FEB ... opening an a/c in HSBC ..... and depending on ETH provided housing for now ../. :D
Hello everyoneThose who have received their Registration confirmation documents and opened bank accounts in Citibank/HSBC, have any of you initiated the Visa process?
Also did anyone get an account opened in Citibank?I was browsing through some previous threads and found a couple of them useful in this regard:https://groups.google.com/group/ZurichCalling/browse_thread/thread/42fce20a4804f48b/
Also as far as accommodation is concerned, the links provided by Nitesh Jain are useful. (Thanks Nitesh for that). There are a lot of double/triple room sharing options. Anyone interested in sharing accommodation?

@Anuj : As per my knowledge, HSBC requires you to maintain a minimum of INR 3Lacs while the same amount for Citibank is INR 2Lacs. Anyways I hope everything goes well at the Embassy. Do share your experience later on.
@Sharan : I'm fine with sharing room with you guys. Have you made any enquiry at any of the student houses yet?
Anyone through with the Visa process at New Delhi? Need some info. Also those flying from Delhi, have you finalized the date or blocked your tickets as of yet?

Hi, my name is Gaurav and I'm from Lucknow, although my family moved to Bangalore a few months ago. I just finished my second year of undergraduate studies at University of Pennsylvania, USA and will be going to ETH in the fall for a semester long exchange program. I'm majoring in philosophy and physics and possibly sub-matriculating with a masters in physics if I can cram enough courses in the next 2 years. Not sure if there are any other undergraduates in this group, but I didn't find a separate student organization for Indian undergrads so I decided to post here. If this is the wrong group, please let me know, haha!Congrats to everyone for making it!

HEALTH INSURANCE:
Sorry, me again: Please do NOT choose Swisscare! The package we recommend is cheaper and has a better reputation. And: we know the people there and can help you if there is a problem. Swisscare is not even a Swiss company and ETH has not contacts there. Please WAIT with this until you have arrived and applied for a residence pemrit. The Swiss authorities are always confused if they have to deal with health insurances of people who have not even entered the country yet.... (please note: these cheap student packages do not appear on Comparis!).
Kind regards,
ETH International Student Support
Thanks a lot for this information.

You pay about CHF 86.20 for a 300 franc deductible. This is the one that students go for usually but you can compare plans at www.comparis.chRegards,

Anyone aware of weather condition in Zurich in September? Is it required to wear a sweater/jacket while travelling to Zurich?
