“Naruto Muyo!”

A place to call home, a place to belong ...

That's what she was looking for, just a place to call home, a place
where she belonged. It wasn't a hard thing to think about or fathom.
She just wanted someplace where she could feel like she was needed.
To put it in bigger perspective, she was really looking for something
or someone to live for. She once had someone to live for, a long time
ago, but he lives for someone else now. They parted ways, he didn't
want her to go but she knew that if she stayed she'd only end up
causing trouble. After living with him and the one he chose for any
years she just couldn't bring herself to stay there any longer. Not
because he didn't choose her or because she didn't get along with his
chosen love, no that wasn't the reason, but because she never got over
him. She loved them both too much to get between them and she knew if
she stayed eventually she would.

… Tenchi … Sasami …

And so, that's what brought Hakubi Ryoko to this backwater planet out
in the middle of pretty much nowhere in an uncharted region of the
Milky Way galaxy. The Galactic Union was a misnomer, it didn't span
the entire galaxy like many believed but only a portion of it.
Juraian space and the Galactic Union only accounted for about
forty-five percent of the known galaxy with a few smaller outlying
empires covering maybe one or two percent more. The galaxy was a big
place though, space was huge and forty-five percent of the galaxy was
a lot of stars and planets. That was a lot of real estate, a lot more
than most people might realize. Space was really really really really
BIG! The problem is most GU citizens were spoiled by fast FTL space
travel. They'd forgotten the sheer immensity of the galaxy they
called home.

But, Ryoko didn't …

When she found the small blue green marble, that for all the world
looked like the planet she left behind, in Ryu-Ohki's view screen
Ryoko knew this was the place. Finding it hadn't been easy though.
Locating new planets, even in this day and age of super-advanced
technology that was more magic than anything else, wasn't an exacting
science. Ryu-Ohki's sensors were powerful, really powerful, but space
was huge, really huge and planets in its vastness were really hard to
see unless you knew where to look. Of course, locating planets for
Ryu-Ohki or your average GU citizen on a modern ship was far easier
than say an Earth based astronomer who had only an optical or radio
telescope to work with. At those vast distances the further out into
space they looked the further back in time they looked. So they
didn't see the gargantuan space platforms, heavy spacecraft traffic
and other sentient lifeform-made galactic wonders because the light
which reached Earth was from a time long before all that came about.
For a ship that was actually out there in space it was easier because
they didn't have to look that far out and thus not that far back in
time. Ryu-Ohki's sensors also had the distinct advantage of not being
effected by the time-space-distance factor thanks to Washu's technical
wizardry which tossed the laws of physics out on its ass in favor of
it own rules. Science in the hands of Ryoko's mom was scary shit.

The planet was midway towards the center of one of the more
distant galactic arms. Its star was an ordinary type one yellow sun
roughly the same age as Sol. The system had nine planets and twelve
dwarf planets. Six of those planets were gas giants, which orbited in
the out reaches of the system with the three rocky planets in the
inner system beyond a vast belt of asteroid debris. All in all it
was, astronomically speaking, a pretty boring star system with nothing
of merit worthy of exploration. That's what made it so perfect. It
was too ordinary meaning nobody would likely come here. Not that
Ryoko thought anyone was looking for her, but ever after one thousand
years her reputation was still well known and she didn't want to run
into any more unforeseen complications. The Galaxy Police weren't a
problem, her statutes of limitations ran out a long time ago, and the
King of Jurai due to the insistence of his two wives granted her a
full pardon and had her criminal record erased. So, while she was
free to travel around the GU freely there were those who remembered
her and many of them wanted to make a name for themselves, by carving
it out of her backside.

Ryoko discovered the people of this world were humans, which was a
surprise because she though humans came only from Earth. These humans
lived in a civilization that was a mix of different contrasts between
primitive and technological. They must have been a colony of the
Juraians at one time or had some contact with them, she guessed,
because their culture and writing was so much like those of Japan on
earth it wasn't funny. Learning to understand their spoken and
written language didn't take long with Ryu-Ohki's help. The Cabbit
easily translated the language using her universal translation
subroutines and via their shared link Ryoko assimilated the knowledge.
Being artificial lifeforms had its perks.

The planet was called Edo, she and Ryu-Ohki had touched down in a
region known as the Elemental Lands. They were feudal states under
the rule of their own Daimyo who ruled with absolute authority. The
military might of the Elemental Lands were centered around their
hidden shinobi villages. Well, “hidden” was a misnomer for the
locations for most of them were well known especially among traveling
merchants and performers. A few hidden villages were … hidden … for
protection and their locations kept a secret, but the bigger more
powerful villages were not. The countries were called the Elemental
Lands because they were named after the primary elements of Earth,
Wind, Fire, Water and Lightning. Some of the other surrounding
countries also had hidden shinobi villages but were often smaller and
less influential. The village's economy centered around sending out
ninja on missions for paying clients and often received a yearly
budget from the Daimyo. Only the largest and most powerful of the
hidden villages had Kage who served as their leaders and shared power
with the Daimyo of that country.

For several years Ryoko and Ryu-Ohki traveled the Elemental Countries
looking for a place to call home. To make money she and the furry
little cabbit came up with a performance routine using their “unique”
abilities to wow paying audiences. Their “unique” abilities Ryoko
soon realized weren't so unique on this planet. Six months after
making landfall on Edo in the country of Earth she and Ryu-Ohki bore
witness to something really amazing. They stumbled upon a ninja
battle in progress. It was certainly a eye opening experience. They
were doing things she'd never seen humans do before. They were
controlling wind, fire, water, earth and lightning as well as other
more exotic abilities. One ninja had performed strange motions with
his hands, yelled out something, and called a dragon made from mud
that rose up and drowned his targets. Another threw knives and
throwing stars, guided them using the wind, and wrapped their target
in thin, almost invisible wires which were then used to shock the life
out of them with electricity. The battle had been one hell of a show,
and it made Ryoko very curious about this planet and its people. She
knew her mom would love to see this place, it would be like bringing a
little kid to a candy store the size of a Wal-Mart.

The dual also discovered that the humans on this world shared much in
common with the humans on earth. That was their penchant for
incredible cruelty towards their own kind. The two wanders making
their way through the Land of Earth bore witness to a lot of
suffering. The people were oppressed yet well taken care of. The
government under the rule of the Earth Daimyo was an oppressive regime
obsessed with security, strict class segregation and absolute
obedience. She heard, to her surprise, that someplace called the Land
of Rain was even worse. Thus, this was a place Ryoko definitely
didn't want to be for much longer. The land itself was a forsaken
place of mountains, rocks and more rocks. There wasn't much land
suitable for farming anywhere in the Land of Earth thus making the
feudal state totally dependent on foreign food imports from the Land
of Rice Fields and the Land of Waves. After six months of dreary,
depressing villages and bleak landscapes Ryoko and Ryu-Ohki crossed
over into the Land of Wind.

What a totally different contrast the Land of Wind was. Most of it
in the northeast was forest, which bordered the Land of Rain and the
Land of Rivers, and the south was a vast, scorching desert of sand as
far as the eye could see. Being curious, Ryoko joined a merchant
caravan headed for Sunagakure no Sato the hidden shinobi the Land of
Wind. She had wanted to see the shinobi village of the Land of Earth,
finding its location wasn't hard, but the place was heavily guarded
and getting in was a difficult and complicated process of multiple
identification checks and security check points. She and Ryu-Ohki had
to run a few times from the Iwa ninja. Ryoko didn't know how her
powers would fair against the superhuman ninja of this world, and she
wasn't quite ready yet to find out. The old Ryoko would have turned
around and faced them head on, but a century of living with Tenchi and
Sasami and the rest of the family had mellowed her. Now, she was more
cautious; basically she learned to look before she leaped. Mostly,
she had Noike to thank for her new attitude. Oh, that wasn't to say
the old Ryoko wasn't lurking around in there somewhere, she showed up
from time to time but overall the cyan haired beauty was like a
different person.

The great deserts of Land of Wind earned its name, they were great,
they were sandy, and they were really hot. Thankfully, she and
Ryu-Ohki came prepared for this trip. Ryoko had morphed her clothing
into something that kept the hot sun from beating down on her and
Ryu-Ohki stayed in the shade of the tarp that protected the merchant
cargo from the blowing sand. Ryoko also carried plenty of water and
other supplies in her own subspace pocket which Washu had made for her
a long time ago. Ryoko even had one of her mother's dimensional
computers, which she eventually learned how to use after long bouts of
boredom sitting around at home with nothing to do but watch
interstellar television.

Suna was a dreary looking place of stone, sand, and more sand. It
reminded the two travelers of the Land of Earth, only this place
wasn't so oppressive. The place wasn't too big on excessive security
but the people seemed pretty nervous or afraid about something. She
never found out what that something was but Ryu-Ohki kept sensing
something strange about the place. She kept detecting the trace of an
energy lifeform of immense power, its energy would spike from time to
time but not enough for her to pinpoint, and the intelligence behind
that power felt vile and sadistic. Needless to say Ryu-Ohki didn't
want to stay there for much longer so the dual booked themselves on
the next caravan to leave Suna and eventually crossed over into the
Land of Rivers which separated Wind from the Land of Fire. Overall
they stayed in Wind Country for more than six months, combined with
their time in Earth Country they'd been on Edo for over a year.

The Land of Rivers got its name from all of the rivers running
through it, which were a lot. Ryoko thought the place should be
called the Land of Bridges for the bridges she and Ryu-Ohki had to
cross. They could have flown but she didn't want to draw too much
attention to herself. Not that a flying girl would really be noticed
in a world where ninja often defied the laws of physics on a daily
basis. The dual discovered that the Land of Rivers didn't have a
hidden village but got much of its protection from the hidden village
called Konohagakure no Sato in the Land of Fire. Eventually, they
arrived at a small shop that specialized in curry dishes and was
famous for being pretty hot. Thankfully Ryoko's sense of taste was
very different from that of others, at one time she had no sense of
taste but her mother had fixed that. Ryu-Ohki though took one bite of
the stuff and made a mad dash for the nearest bucket of water making
Ryoko nearly fall out of her seat with laughter.

As it turned out the dual had become somewhat famous in two ways. On
one hand Ryoko and Ryu-Ohki were the famous magic and acrobatics
performing dual who's exploits in the Land of Earth were becoming well
known among the common folk. Among the shinobi Ryoko earned a very
different reputation as a very powerful ninja. Though, they didn't
understand that her powers weren't the Ninjitsu spells which they used
often. Whenever Ryoko did use her powers to fight, which wasn't
often, but when she did she only used a fraction of of her full power.
She had all of her gem because a few things happened back on earth
that made it possible for Tenchi to return them to her.

Yosho had finally relented to his father urging for him to take over
the throne in his place. The long standing prejudice which drove
Yosho away from Jurai originally no longer existed there. The people
had come to accept diversity, mostly because of their love for his
mother Queen Funaho who was a human from Earth. So, after Yosho
returned to Jurai, with Washu's help she transplanted Funaho-oh to the
royal gardens, it was no longer necessary for Tenchi to keep her gems
locked up in the Master Key. Ayeka had been dead set against it
saying that she couldn't be trusted. It wasn't like Ryoko was going
to go off on some rampage and Kagato was long dead. Tenchi trusted
her to use the power wisely and Ryoko didn't disappoint him. It
wasn't long after that Sasami and Tsunami completed their assimilation
and the rest as they say was history.

So here she was, the second most powerful entity in the universe,
eating curry in a roadside cafe in the Land of Rivers and acting like
a tourist. At least she wasn't deliberately out looking for trouble
like she used to. She used to be addicted to gambling but didn't do
too much of that anymore. She used to drink, a lot, but that slowed
down considerably but she still liked to drink. This planet had
something similar to sake which was just as good as the kind she got
back on Earth. Rolling the small porcelain sake glass in her fingers,
Ryoko thought about the family back on earth. When she left Sasami
was about three months pregnant, so that means she's had her baby by
now. If it was going to be a girl the couple had decided to name the
baby after her. Ryoko hate not being there for them when the baby
came, but she couldn't bring herself to make the trip back to earth.

“I'm still not over him,” she muttered to herself as she lazily
swished the sake around in her cup. She ignored Ryu-Ohki's little
sigh, the cabbit was in her little girl form enjoying a small plate of
carrot sticks Ryoko ordered for her after the curry incident.

“You seem troubled young lady,” Ryoko looked around for the one who
spoke and her gaze fell on the small, old woman who was the proprietor
of the curry shop. A small boy stood behind the counter standing on a
wooden stool stirring a large steaming pot.

Ryoko sighed, “Not really troubled, just frustrated.” She came here
to forget about him, or to least get over him but no matter what she
did her thoughts kept drifting back to earth and that kind young boy
she fell in love with.

“Oh, man troubles is is?” the old woman asked her and took a seat
opposite of Ryoko at the table. The old lady was no fool, she knew a
heartbroken look when she saw it. This beautiful young woman wasn't
the first heartbroken young girl to cross her path in her shop in the
many years she ran it.

“You could say that,” Ryoko replied with a smile knowing what the old
woman was doing. These old cafe owners were all the same no matter
what world and what species they came from. The thought was sort of
comforting actually.

The old woman smiled at her from across the table and said, “It helps
to talk about it, and I have lots of time since we don't usually get
too many customers here during this time of day.” To exemplify this
she waved her hand at the empty cafe. Ryoko and Ryu-Ohki were the
only ones in the place save for the old woman and her young assistant.

Ryoko downed the sake in her glass and sat it down. The old lady
picked up the small white carafe and refilled her cup for her. “Well,
its like this,” Ryoko told her. “I was in love with his guy, he was
really nice and still is, but he was also pretty indecisive.”

The old woman chuckled, “Sometimes young men have a hard time
understanding their feelings. I had to chase my husband for several
years before finally catching his eye.” She laughed a bit remember
those days long ago when they were still so young. She wasn't much
older than the pretty young girl sitting across from here right now.

“Well, I had competition, a few others girls were all trying to get
his attention but in the end it ended up being me and this one other
girl.” Ryoko remembered the old days back when she and Ayeka would
fight over Tenchi constantly. They caused so much trouble but those
were indeed fun times.

She sighed and said, “But, in the end we didn't stand a chance
against the one girl we never imagined would be any competition. The
thing is I can't bring myself to hate her. I care about her a lot and
after thinking about it for a long time I realized that she was
actually the best one for him out of all of us. He did love me, like
family and so I stayed but I knew iI'd eventually get in the way so I
decided to leave for a while.”

After going through depression for several weeks, she had come to
that very realization. Though she loved Tenchi with all her heart she
knew deep down she wouldn't have been able to make him happy. Not the
way Sasami did, she knew for fact that she just couldn't. Ayeka had
taken it rather hard, she'd been the one who found the two together.
They were up on the mountain locked in an embrace and kissing. The
two sisters came down the mountain arguing up a storm. Ayeka had the
audacity to order Sasami to never be alone with Tenchi ever again,
putting her full authority as the First Princess of Jurai behind the
command. For the first time Tenchi did something that none of the
girls had ever seen him do. No matter how angry the girls ever made
him he never once lashed out physically, that day though he slapped
Ayeka across the face, but in his eyes you could see that it hurt him
to do it. He apologized soon after and he and Sasami explained
everyone to the family. Turns out they'd been in love for a while
now, but Tenchi never felt comfortable acting on how he felt for
Sasami because of her age. That was a moot point now that she was
fully joined with Tsunami, essentially she was Tsunami and Tsunami was
Sasami. Unable to bear it, Ayeka left not long after, but Ryoko,
Mihoshi, Washu and Noike stayed. They rarely heard from Ayeka
afterwards, and she never came to visit them not even when Yosho,
Funaho, Azusa and Misaki came to visit. Ryoko had come to accept
Tenchi's decision, or so she thought which lead to her departure and
her arrival here on this distant world.

The old woman smiled, “So you're on a journey to find yourself then?”

“I guess you could say that,” Ryoko turned the smile with her own.
She noticed the old woman looking at Ryu-Ohki curiously from time to
time.

“What an unusual kekki genkai,” muttered the old woman as she studied
the furry little girl sitting next to Ryoko.

Ryoko had never heard that word before. She wondered what the old
woman meant by Bloodline Limit. Before she could ask four mountainous
men strolled into the cafe accompanying a shorter, lanky fellow who
had an unsavory look in his eyes. Ryoko too one look at these guys
and immediately her sense told her they were no good. Like the old
woman, some things were the same no matter the planet or species. She
knew thugs and gangsters when she saw them, she could smell blood on
them and something else she recognized. These guys just got done
raping someone, she could smell the still fresh scent of semen and
vaginal juices as clear as day.

“Hey, how about some service over here!” yelled the lanky one. The
four mountainous thugs with him grunted in ascension.

The old woman eyed them with a look of disgust and anger but she
didn't say a word in protect. Her eyes went over to Ryoko and the
cyan haired beauty saw look of worry flash for a second.

“I'm coming, keep your shirt on,” the old woman groused. The men
ordered up chicken curry, extra hot, and she want into the kitchen to
get it ready. After she left two of the big guys looked over at
Ryoko, their eyes took in her figure hungrily. One of them was
actually drooling, and Ryoko suppressed a shudder. She wasn't worried
for herself, these guys were no match for her even on a good day, she
was more worried for the old woman and the boy. If she went at these
guys she'd have to get them out of the cafe so she could go wild
without blasting the place into its constituent atoms.

A few complaints later the old woman arrived with their meal. The
five thugs started eating, after the first bite the lanky one stopped,
looked at the other four and nodded his head. Ryoko was watching them
and though “shit, here we go”. In a flurry the four big thugs smashed
their table into toothpicks frightening the old woman and small boy
and shocking Ryu-Ohki who fell back out of her seat.

“You call this garbage curry!” the lanky thug yelled thrusting a
finger at the ruined table. One of the thugs drew a large club out
from somewhere and smashed another one of the tables just by barely
hitting it.

“What are you going to do about this old woman?” the lanky thug asked
the old woman has he stepped towards her with a sneer on his face.
She backed away form him, her young assistant hid behind her shaking.

The lanky thugs smiled an evil grin, “Tell you what, my boys and I
will forget about this little transgression. You only need to cut us
in on your little business here.”

Defiantly the old woman shouted back at him, “I won't pay any
protection money, you're just a no good thug, now get out of my shop!”
She was frightened, the thugs knew and so did Ryoko. Knowing what
was going to come next, if things panned out as they usually did in
these situation, she took this moment to make her presence known.

“You know, you five baka are so ruining my dinner here,” she said
nonchalantly as she swished some sake around in her small cup.
“Really pisses me off, go play gangster somewhere else the nice lady
asked you to leave.” She could see the old woman looking at her in a
panic, a pleading look in her eye, not for herself and the boy but for
her. Ryoko was no defenseless little girl, she'd demonstrate that
real soon.

The lanky thug leered at her, “You got a mouth on you for such a
pretty little thing. Don't worry, we something to put in it to shut
you up when we're done here.” This elicited some chuckles and aroused
glares from the four big thugs.

“Oh, you think so?” Ryoko asked him as she stood up in a sensual
seductive say. Years of chasing Tenchi and trying to get into his
pants had made her a master of seductive body language. Knowing what
her sister had in mind, Ryu-Ohki dashed away, grabbing the old woman's
hand and ushering her out the nearest open door.

“Hey!” the lanky thug yelled as they left. He was stopped from
running after them by Ryoko's haughty, mocking laughter which made him
turn and sneer at her even more so than before.

“Do you little boys actually think you have what it takes to satisfy
... me?” she looked with her head lowered, her yellow eyes piercing,
and licked her lips. This had the desired effect, again no matter
what planet or species scum was still scum, and dumb scum at that.
Before moving into action Ryoko thought only one thing, “too easy”.

oOOOo

Ryu-Ohki thought she'd died and gone to cabbit heaven. Sitting in
front of her was a heaping plate of freshly steamed carrots which
smelled like manna from heaven itself. Beside her Ryoko was enjoying
an extra larger serving of super chicken curry deluxe and had a large
bottle of the most expensive sake sitting between her and the old
lady. Burned, battered, and unconscious the five thugs lay in a heap
in the corner tied up tight. The wreckage of the tables they smashed
had been cleaned away.

“Ryoko-san, are you sure you aren't a shinobi?” the old woman asked
her for the four time that day after her little display of power.
Ryoko didn't even have to use one percent of her full power on these
guys, the four big ones knew some those Ninja spell abilities but they
were totally ineffective against her shield.

Ryoko shook her head and laughed, “Yes I'm sure, I'm not a ninja.”
It wasn't too far fetched for the old woman to think she was one.
While Ryoko didn't have to use those hands signs like the big thugs
did she'd seen some shinobi use abilities without them before. She
just guessed those that didn't use them were better at it or stronger.
Little did she know how right she was.

The old woman laughed also, “Well, regardless you have a lot of
skill. With the Land of Fire so close by I get a lot of Konoha
shinobi here in my shop. I've not seen one that could do what you did
today, and I want to thank you again for helping me and my grandson.”
Indeed she was thankful both for Ryoko saving them from the thugs and
from saving her cafe from getting trashed. She had to rebuild the
place a few times due to ninja battles and it was especially bad
during the Second Shinobi War when her husband was still alive.

“Eh, I just took out the trash that's all I did,” Ryoko waved off her
thanks with a smile which made the old woman laugh. “I don't like it
when people think they can walk all over others who can't defend
themselves.”

“You know, someone like you with your skills could really go places
if you used them properly.” the old woman told her, her face taking on
a very serious grandmotherly look.

Ryoko looked at her questioningly. “You're look on a journey to find
yourself, but I think what you are really looking for is something to
live for other than this young man whom you loved so much. Am I
right?” Ryoko's eyes widened in surprise, she wondered if the people
of this world were able to read minds too.

“You know you're way too smart for own good, granny.” Ryoko laughed
eliciting the laugh from the old woman.

Giving Ryoko a knowing look she replied, “You done grow as old as I
am in this business without learning how to read people, sweetie.
But, really, you could go far with those skills of yours.”

“So, like what, become a ninja?” Ryoko asked her.

The old woman nodded, “Join Konohagakure no Sato, they'd love to have
you especially if I write you a letter of recommendation for their
Hokage.”

Ryoko sat up looking away and shook her head. “I don't know, I've
seen a lot of bad things around these ninja and I've been to Suna,
depressing place.” she told her. Ryoko didn't want to live in a place
like that, depressing, oppressive.

The old woman snorted and folder her arms, “Those places aren't
anything like Konoha. They're powerful but their a peaceful shinobi
village. Life there is pretty good and their citizens are all really
happy. Some of the world's most powerful shinobi came out of that
village, and also some of the noblest and respected as well.”

Ryoko felt a bit curious, perhaps there was a hidden village that
wasn't all dreary and bleak where the people were happy and the ninja
weren't over obsessed with security. Though she wasn't like the old
Ryoko anymore she still like getting her hands dirty and become a part
of the action. Maybe this was a way for her to find herself and maybe
find a way to get over him. This was the most promising chance out of
every other avenue she's seen thus far on this crazy mixed up planet.

“Maybe, I'll try this ninja thing,”

oOOOo

To be continued …

Next chapter, Ryoko arrives at Konohagakure no Sato and finds that the
old woman hadn't been exaggerating. The hidden village was peaceful,
its people nice and friendly and their shinobi were happy at the
possibility of having her added to their ranks. However, as the
October 10th celebrations got underway she bore witness to Konoha's
dark side. Ryoko finds that someone new to live for, that someone is
a young three year old child named Uzumazki Naruto.

At this stage in the story Naruto is just 3 years old. Ryoko arrives
in Konoha with merchants who came to prepare for the October 10th
Yondaime Festival which commemorates the day he defeated the Kyuubi no
Youko. It also happens to be the day of Naruto's birthday. I plan to
use a well used plot device here often seen in fan fiction but not
supported by the anime ... people physically attacking young Naruto.
This isn't supported by the anime because its pretty much known that
anything that draws attention to him being what he is is a capital
offence. I'm certain those who tried were immediately executed by the
ANBU or suffered Ibiki's tender mercies.

Anyway, she saves him and becomes his guardian but insists that he
call her big sis or neesan or neechan. Right now I haven't decided on
a pairing for Naruto or Ryoko yet. I did decide on one thing though
... Ryoko and Anko will become good friends. I fear for Konoha. LOL

No more spoilers ... you'll need to wait for the next chapter.

I really enjoyed this, and I hope to see more. By the way, did you know you
fell into a habit of saying "dual" when it should have been "duo"? Several
times you mention how Ryoko and Ryo-Ohki were traveling together and the
dual went here.. And the duel saw this...

Hmm....about Pairings....its interesting to contemplate it. On
conventional choices, my first call would be for Kakashi/Ryoko. Both
have assumed attitudes and personalities, to mask their old pains,
sorrows and regrets. on Secondary options, i would call oddly, for
Jiraiya, but through some mess with Masu/Water of Life, to return the
Super-pervert into a more younger body. On Naruto.....My call would be
for either Ino, Temari or Sakura. I Don't have any hangups against
Hinata, its just that i prefer Sakura above Hinata.

Hmm, now, this makes me remember of a concept that i talked with
DarkstarShadowrose. We postulated, that given that the Universe
brought into being a "Counteractor" against the Chuushin Megami, there
its a extremely HIGH chance, that at some point, an opposite and equal
entity to Kami-Tenchi will emerge into existence. Kami...and
Shinigami..........hmm...

I'm a big Naruto+Hinata pairing fan myself and never understood why
people have such a big beef with her. I mean, its Sakura who is hung
up on a guy who turned traitor against the village and joined forces
with their worst enemy. Granted her feelings towards him could change
later on as they are doing so in the Shippuden series, but at this
particular point in the story she's too hung up on Sasuke.

Next to Hinata, the second favorite pairing is Naruto+Temari. But,
its likely not to happen until after the Chunin Exams. Naruto does
some things to help Garaa which could lead to her falling for him.
Garaa, of course, would be supportive of her feelings in his own way.

Right now I haven't decided on any pairings. Kakashi+Ryoko would be
interesting, though.

As for Hinata, I know what you mean. My daughter is a BIG Naruto & Sakura
fan. To the point she hates Sasuke and she does not even like Hinata. The
fact that the Manga's latest issue reportedly has Naruto and Hinata ending
has her livid. I've asked her why she doesn't like Hinata and the best I
can get is that she is just not right for Naruto.

Personally, I think of all of then Sakura is the one who is being the blind
idiot. She is so set on Sasuke that anytime Naruto helps her she
automatically thanks Sasuke. But oh well, my big question on things is Who
is Ryoko gonna pick?

There are signs in the Shippuden series that Sakura is struggling between her love for Sasuke and newly blossoming feelings for Naruto.  Everyone (meaning the Academy kids Naruto graduated with) knows that Naruto is a Jinchuriki now and none of them have rejected him ... including Hinata.  Hell, in season 2 they saw him fight in his two-tails form.

Right now I don't know what direction I'll go in.  I'm leaning towards Hinata with the possibility of maybe Temari if not Hinata but that would be much later on in the story.  Its entirely possible that Ryoko might recognize how Hinata feels about her "little brother" (she won't have Naruto calling her mom, she'll insist he call her neesan or "older sister) and gives her some words of encouragement.  Or, I could bring in an OC or perhaps choose one of the other girls like TenTen (who I think has a thing for Neji) or Ino (who has completely dropped her feelings for Sasuke in Naruto Shippuden).

For Ryoko, Kakashi is actually a pretty strong candidate.  He's lived with tragedy in his life as well loosing his friend Obito and the death of his father the White Fang of Konoha.  Asuma is already in a relationship with Kurenai, though they keep it a secret well up until end of Season 2 of Shippuden.  Maito Gai?  Uh .... no.  Jiraiya?  No, and making him young again with the Jurai Water of Life and bonding him to a tree is way too cliche and convienient to be realistic (as realistic as the Narutoverse can be, LOL).  Right now Kakashi is the best candidate, as to how their relationship gets going I haven't decided on yet.  Also, the rest of the Tenchi Muyo gang will not be showing up on Naruto's planet for a very long time.

What I have decided on is that Ryoko and Anko will become close friends and as a result Naruto will get to know Anko pretty well.  No, as fun as it might be there won't be a Naruto+Anko pairing.  She's after Iruka, the poor bastard.  LOL

Knowing the Psych Profile of those two, actually i can see Ryoko and
Anko
becoming "Best Buddies"...both know the bitter pain of being used and
abused, and the mask that its their way of acting
.sharing customs....drinking til the candles burn, eating sweets, and
exchanging points on the fine arts of teasing their guys til
they either have a severe case of blue balls, severe blood loss by
nasal way, or "Mental Blue Screen of Death"

LMAO!!!

Yeah, that's how I see Ryoko and Anko together as best friends,
kindred spirits. Oh poor Konoha will they survive this?! LOL

Still not sure on the pairings yet.
