What does the season look like? Ultimate has grown to be a massive college sport. Over 700 colleges around the US and Canada participate in some form. The structure of the season is as follows:

The fall (September - November) is for development. We will be practicing three times a week and going to 4 tournaments in the fall in order to prepare ourselves for the spring.
The spring (January - March) is the main college season. We will continue to practice, but some of the tournaments that we are going to will contribute towards a ranking determined at the end of March. This will determine how many "bids" we have to progress through the post-season.
The late spring (April - May) is the post season. There are three tiers of tournaments in the college post season, Sectionals, Regionals and Nationals. The number of teams that progress from each tournament to the next depends on the "bids" earned during the main season. Which teams advance depends on the results of each of the tournaments. What is involved at KU? At KU, we use the fall to gear up for tournaments in the spring. There will be 4 tournaments that we will drive to (between 2-3 hour drives, either on Friday night or Saturday morning. We will return on Sunday nights). We will also set up a fun co-ed tournament in Lawrence at the end of September. There will be practices, team-building stuff and social events throughout the year as well.

Practices. Practices are Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays (mostly) from 4:15 - 6:30 (light permitting). That will most often be at the Shenk fields in the fall, but there are multiple locations that we will use during the spring due to the Shenk fields being closed between Thanksgiving break and Spring break. Practices will have three different categories.

Skill practices: These practices will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays. They will build on each other, so it will be expected that you attend these frequently. We will work on developing new skills and strategies during these practices.
Game practices. These practices will be on Mondays. We will scrimmage more and look to put to use all the stuff we learn throughout the previous week...and have a little fun with it.
Invite Practices/scrimmages: On occasional weekends we will have invite practices where we work on specific advanced skills or scrimmages in preparation for competitive tournaments.

Dues. In order to fund this, we do collect dues. The dues will be $75 for new players, $150 for returning players. These dues will provide hotels and gas for all tournaments and a reversible pinnie. They must be given to Goose, our treasurer, before your first tournament (so Sept 14th).
