Putting ${COMMAND} in your command url string returns the exact string
entered by the user... why is this not mentioned on the advanced syntax
page anywhere?

Ah - I believe this was an experimental feature requested by Sean O'Hagan,
but I don't think it's used at all (or at least not very much).

Well I think it could definately be useful... was just wondering why it
wasn't listed on the advanced syntax page ;) had to browse the source
code to find it.

Hrmm... This could come in handy with (aliases). With this, people
could use "%s" instead of having to use "!s"... I'll have to look in to
this!
