SPECIAL ELECTION

Tonight, Tuesday, May 29, is an opportunity to volunteer for the Gregory Camp campaign, which is being run out of the Metropolitan Republican Club on the Upper East Side. If you are free after work this evening, this is the perfect opportunity to represent the YJLPAC and help get a Republican elected in Manhattan.

According to Daniel Peterson of the New York Young Republican Club, this election is very winnable.  Last year, Manhattan had two Special Elections, one on the Upper West Side where just over 9,600 voters went to the polls, and one on the Lower East Side where only 3,870 voters cast their ballot. Both of these districts list more than 92,000 registered voters. In the 65 AD, the Board of Elections lists more than 17,000 Republicans, which means, if we get one -forth of these voters to the polls, we could win. With such low turnout at Special Elections, the 2.5 Democrats to 1 Republican becomes a moot point.
