In June, the Young and the Restless bookclub will be reading 'Generation Kill' by American journalist Evan Wright.

We will also be discussing 'Affection', a memoir by Avid Reader's own Krissy Kneen (held over from the previous month).

S Y N O P S I S

Evan Wright rode into Iraq on March 20, 2003 to examine the Iraq War's first month from the Marine grunt's point of view. He encounters a handful of Marines, most of whom are young, street-smart and dedicated to the business of killing the enemy — and whose main problem is trying to sort out civilians from enemy fighters. In the fog of war, there are deaths and maimings of innocent Iraqi men, women and children, and instances where Marines are killed and wounded.
