Hello lovely members of Y&R Book Club.

As you know, all good things come to an end.

And it's with a heavy heart that I'm confirming that Y&R Book Club's folding up too.

It's been pretty swell. During our time together (more than three years), we've read roughly 50 books — from journalism to sci-fi, romance to memoir, poetry to blockbusters — and dug into stories from Australia, Germany, China, Japan, Sudan and France.

I'd been hoping to schedule one last book club date (for Jonathan Franzen's 'Freedom'), but Avid's having its Christmas bash on that evening.

So instead of book club, please join me at the party instead. Let's talk books, get nicely sloshed, and perhaps even cram in some Christmas shopping. Coming along to the party is free. All you need to do is register your attendance here:

Also: if you spot each other, I'd also encourage you to organise your own book clubs for 2011 (Avid Reader's staff can help you with this), or join one of Avid's many existing ones

Thanks again to everyone who came to Y&R Book Club over the years. It's been a great pleasure rocking up to book club and exchanging ideas, having a good bitch and drinking cheap wine. It was tremendously fun meeting you all, and I hope you stay in touch.

Yours in book nerdery,

— Ben
