Mickey Edwards—a sixteen year Republican Congressman and founding member of the Heritage Foundation—is a giant in American conservatism.  Yet in his new book, Reclaiming Conservatism: How a Great American Political Movement Got Lost, Edwards narrates the story of the betrayal of conservatism fueled in part by a misunderstanding of the separate of church and state.  “Along with Andrew Sullivan's Conservative Soul, this is the kind of book that's all too rare in American politics: a sincere and thoughtful engagement with the core principles of a leading philosophical tradition,” said Chris Meserole, co-coordinator of the Yale Forum on Faith and Politics.
