Hi everyone,

I wanted to make sure the WyGEO membership is aware that the Joint Transportation, Highways & Military Affairs Committee will be discussing GIS governance during its upcoming interim committee meeting.

As Wyoming’s professional geospatial organization, WyGEO is sharing this information to help keep our members informed about developments that may affect Wyoming’s GIS community.

Meeting Information:
  • Date: Friday, August 21, 2026
  • Time: 8:00 AM – approximately 5:30 PM
  • Location: Uinta County School District #1 School Board Room
  • 537 10th Street
  • Evanston, Wyoming

The meeting will also be livestreamed through the Wyoming Legislature’s website.

According to the current agenda, the GIS Governance System discussion is scheduled to begin at approximately 1:00 PM (agenda times are tentative and may change depending on committee progress).

During this agenda item, the committee will receive a report from the GIS Governance System Working Group, consider Bill Draft 27LSO-0029 – Geographic Information Systems Governance Structure, hear public comment, and provide committee direction.

For those interested in following the discussion or reviewing the materials in advance:

Please note that this is a working draft and may be revised as the committee continues its work.

Members are welcome to attend in person or follow the meeting via the legislative livestream. For those wishing to provide virtual public comment, requests must be submitted through the Legislative Service Office by 5:00 PM on Thursday, August 20.

Whether you choose to attend, watch the livestream, review the draft bill, or simply follow the committee’s work, we encourage you to stay informed as this discussion moves forward.

Thank you,

Cole Bay
Vice President
Wyoming Geospatial Organization (WyGEO)
