The REC Spring Garden Festival serves as our kick-off event to the gardening season. We gather community gardeners, Home gardeners and all interested parties to take workshops, enjoy lunch, partake in a plant sale and overall, "talk dirt" with one another.

This year, it is held again at the Woo Church (located within Pilgrim Congregational Church)

Festival Features

 

REC Plant Sale – get your greens in the ground early for an early harvest, and be the envy of your neighbors!

 

Raffle: Family Membership to the Ecotarium, Worcester Art Museum membership, Tower Hill Botanic Society Gate Passes

Gift Certificates: Armsby Abbey, Acoustic Java, Big Y Supermarkets and more!!!

 

Lunch provided by the REC


The workshops this year are:
gardening 101: taught by Casey Burns, Food Justice program Director

learn the basic tenets of gardening, and some key vocabulary, skills, and techniques to make your first seasons more favorable


Unemployment and Food: taught by Peter Friedland - Explore how to use Unemployment and Urban Agriculture as an opportunity for future success.


Organic Container Gardening, Paul Split, Direct of Horticulture, Comcast Center

 Paul will be conducting a general all day question and answer
seminar on small gardening, organic gardening in and out of cities, and any other questions that people have.  He is an experienced gardener who will gladly answer specific or general questions.

 

There will also be community gardener testimonials!!!
