For those who haven't discovered, Earth Point change to a subscription
service recently. Bill is looking for comments on fee structure.

One negative affect of going to subscription is that sharing a kmz
with the land net will now require the recipient to also have a subscription.

That will make it a lot less useful for many situations that some of
use it for now. We can still send kmz's with data direct from GMM or
CMM and insert plats and show the quads though, or do a screen grab
to email. All those requiring a bit more up front work on our
part. But if you are on the phone with a client or someone with an
inquiry you can't so easily just get them up and running looking at
what you are discussing with the picture and land net.

Oh well. We lost topozone too a few years back and a lot of links went dead.

I agree with Jerry -- we have other avenues. However, I am disappointed
with the earthpoint decision --- it seems to be a slap in the face to those
that have created the software and the data that they now want to sell
"access" to.

Maybe we should contact the zonums.com guy or write our own replacement for
the earthpoint gizmo...effectively shutting them down.

I just uploaded a file to the "files" area of this bbs titled "using
NILS geocommunicator map services with google earth --- heres a
link:

http://groups.google.com/group/Wingmm/web/Using_NILS_GeoCommunicator_Map_Services_with_Google.pdf

Several years ago at a "GIS in the Rockies" I met "John R." from the
BLM service center, he and I both had a sincere interest in using GE
for display. The NILS team created "web services" to support
streaming data provided by BLM. This includes PLSS layer and many
other data streams. John has spent significant effort in making
these available, the document I posted includes instructions for
configuring Google Earth to use the streaming data.

As always, your experience working with this and comments are
welcome.... until then, happy travels.
