I have an old Dell laptap running Vista 32 bit and forgot the
password. Even safe mode wants a password and there is no Admistrator
account just one user. Is there a way to reset this password or which
resetter program
works best

Thanks

What to do if you forget your Windows password
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-to-do-if-you-forget-your-Windows-password
If you've forgotten your Windows password and you're on a domain, you should
contact your system administrator to reset your password. If you're not on a
domain, you can reset your password by using a password reset disk or by
using an administrator account. If you forget the administrator password and
don't have a password reset disk or another administrator account, you won't
be able to reset the password. If there are no other user accounts on the
computer, you won't be able to log on to Windows and will need to re-install
Windows

"Windows password recovery tools are used to recover or reset lost user and
administrator passwords used to log on to Windows operating systems.
Password recovery tools are often called "password cracker" tools because
they are sometimes used to "crack" passwords by hackers. Legally cracking
your own Windows password is certainly a legitimate practice! "

It is worst in Windows 7.... you need the Admin pass (Administrator
password) to install software. The above will not work. Stuck with a
complete reinstall. You might try logging into Safe Mode by tapping the F8
key (up top of keyboard) as you start the computer up. In Safe Mode, try
creating another Administrator User and reboot and choose that. MAKE SURE
you give this new user Administrator Privileges or it would be just a
limited user. Go To > Start (lower left) > Control Panel > Users Accounts
.... to do it.
