Hello Everyone!

Starting a thread of conversation....

Did everyone also get the link for the Calendar? I set a deadline for
tomorrow, Wednesday 1/19, to get to Katie your contributions.

Katie - Have you decided what day you're heading down to Charlotte to
visit Ikea?

Hey Everyone,

Thanks for getting in the money to make the lounge look great!
I am in Charlotte and I am going to Ikea today around 3pm.

Please take a moment to look at the items that I have picked. Let me know your feedback. If you see something that you do not think will fit, please let me know. Also I have picked out two different types of lamps. Which ones do you like?

Thanks so much,
Katie

All of it looks fine to me.

Do those lamps provide functional lighting or are they more for soft
indirect light? Just wondering what kind of light we need.

Thanks for doing this, Katie!

Hello all!

Katie and I painted late into the night, and we'll finish up at some point today-yay! A few things we discussed with while painting....

#1  The shelf that was in there----we think in terms of storing supplies, possible dry food, etc, it would be best for the shelving to be enclosed  to keep the area as streamline and clean/presentable for clients as possible. We've put a note by the shelving unit in the hallway and if no one wants it we'll just put it on the free section of craigslist and get it out of there. There's still enough $$ left for Katie to purchase a buffet that she saw at goodwill, which we will then paint. The top can be used as counter space and the bottom can be used for storage.

#2  The fridge situation----there's no point in having a fridge in there that isn't open for everyone to stick things in, so it really makes the most sense for people to keep their fridges in their studios, unless the have ample space to spare. If we wanted to have a communal fridge in there does anyone have an extra mini fridge lying around? If not there are often ones on craigslist for $40-50 that we could purchase if that's something we want.

#3   I thought it would be nice/make sense to have a place for everyones promotional materials (ie business cards/postcards if you have them......mb just biz cards?????) We were thinking to the right of the door when you're facing the hallway, Perhaps some nice pins with hanging clips?

We both think that walls are probably best left simple, without anything hanging other than neutral items such as a mirror, chalkboard, etc., so as to keep the space looking like a professional conference area. SO, Katie and I will finish up painting, hang the curtain, clean up, lay out the rug. Any volunteers for assembling the Ikea table and other items? We'll leave the boxes in there when we're done later on today!

The paint looks great! Thanks Heidi and Katie!
I agree about the storage being enclosed -- excellent call.
Simple walls are good -- I often use a projector in my presentation
and need a large open wall.
Thanks again for your hard work and making this happen so fast.

Hey Girls....and all y'all!

The color looks great in there...cozy blue! Re: you points...

#1: Good call on getting rid of that useless bookshelf. Tim and I are designing a functional kitchenette where we can have lunch meetings with clients. We're on the look out for a "pantry" with doors. We've contacted a cabinet guy that rips out kitchens and he might be able to hook us up. We have granite slabs that can be used as our counter top and shelving (if additional shelving is needed after installing the pantry). The piece that Katie and I saw at Goodwill is nice but it's too short for a comfortable countertop, prep area and storage below would still be exposed. We would need to use some of the funds for brackets and fasteners to get the granite securely on the wall. Once we know what kind of cabinets/pantry our guy will donate to us we'll render the kitchenette space in 3D for you all to see.

#2: We have a fridge (and possibly another one) that every who doesn't have a fridge in their space can use. They'll be installed under the countertop. As long as we maintain them cleaned out there's enough space for all of us to store our lunches...and some beers:) We also have a microwave and coffee maker (on the look out for an electric kettle for non-coffee drinkers) to include in the kitchenette.

#3: The Goodwill piece would be a nice surface area for tenants to display promotional material on...maybe Katie can work her magic to get the price down from $150.00.

"Less is more"....Tim volunteered to assemble the table and chairs...I guess I'm helping:) We'll be in the office late working and then we'll start putting together the Ikea pieces.

Thanks girls!

I have an electric kettle that I'd be happy to put in the conference room for non-coffee drinks...

Thanks JP!...We've got an electric kettle!

....And we've got cabinets! Our guy just called us back and his crew is ripping out a kitchen today. Tim and I will go pick out the pieces that would suite the space tomorrow afternoon. The space is going to look pro!

awesome! Also, Luly, I think the piece katie was talking about was different from the one that you saw.....only $20! May not be room for that + the buffet so we'll wait and see how space goes!

Heidi...thanks for clearing that up:) We'll be using the south wall for the kitchenette so if you find something that fits under the hallway window that would be great for our promotional material!

perfect....we'll keep the lookout for something! I know the box for the table is in there.......not sure if Katie has unloaded the chair boxes yet....we've been a bit delayed today on wrapping up b/c Katie's sister went into labor! She was originally going to be here at some point today to helo finish painting the trim, etc etc but we'll see.....

The walls look great and it sounds like it's all shaping up nicely.
Ditto what Sharon said -- thanks for the hard work and for making it all
happen so fast!

I can use the bookcase after all, many thanks.
