A Walk through Columbia 's Town Center Explores Public Art

The Columbia Archives will host a walking tour of Columbia 's Town
Center on July 17 at 6:30pm. The walk will be led by Columbia Archives
Manager Barbara Kellner and will cover the public art located in Town
Center and its connection to Columbia 's goals and city fathers. The
tour is free and starts at the Columbia Archives, located on the
ground floor of the American City Building at 10277 Wincopin Circle in
Town Center . The entrance is on the south side of the building facing
the surface parking lot and the General Growth Properties headquarters
building.

Outdoor sculpture is both art and history that can be enjoyed free
every day. Cities create civic monuments to give form to dreams and to
shape their community. In Columbia , the People Tree is the
representation of Columbia 's goal to be a place for people to grow.
This tour explores this and other goals of Columbia symbolized by the
carefully placed art in Town Center .

The Columbia Archives collects and preserves the documentation of the
history of Columbia and is open to the public Monday through Friday
from 9am-5pm. Appointments are encouraged. Among the materials
available are articles about Columbia from the local and national
media, builder's brochures and a collection of Gail Holliday
neighborhood posters. For more information, please contact Barbara
Kellner at 410.715.3103 or Columbia...@ColumbiaAssociation.com
