EuroAristos,
There are some threads in G2G that you might want to follow.
First there was my post from a few days ago, which led to an active discussion:
"Should anyone be able to add themselves to the Trusted List of an
Open profile?"
http://www.wikitree.com/g2g/3948
Since anyone on the Trusted List can approve merges, concerns were
raised about protecting the highly-developed, mature, and clean
profiles of historically-significant ancestors.
Lindsay asked a question yesterday about placing some sort of
additional limit on editing historically-significant ancestors.
"Adding profiles over 300 years (or 200??)"
http://www.wikitree.com/g2g/4090
Maybe we could do some sort of "Wiki Historian Honor Code" on top of
the main "Wiki Genealogist Honor Code."
"If there were an Honor Code for editing historically-significant
ancestors what would it include?"
http://www.wikitree.com/g2g/4152
After something that Chris Hoyt said in reply to Lindsay's message, I
posted this:
"Would it be possible to use the ID locking mechanism to identify
historically-signficant ancestor profiles?"
http://www.wikitree.com/g2g/4153
This could lead to the solution to the merging-in worries.
"If a profile is locked/historically-significant who should be able to
merge into it?"
