New categories for Orders of Chivalry

Good afternoon everyone!

I just wanted to let everyone know about some new categories that I created, which you may find useful.  Since we have quite a few profiles for folks who were members of various chivalric orders, I thought it might be nice to go ahead start classifying them with categories.  I've only created two thus far, but will work on getting more done over the weekend.  The current ones are:

Order of the Bath -  [[Category:Order of the Bath]]

Order of the Garter - [[Category:Order of the Garter]]

They are rolled up under "British Orders of Chivalry", "Orders of Chivalry", and finally "Organizations" (for lack of a better idea).  If any of you can think of a better place to put it, please let me know.  It's current location was a "it's better than the other options" choice, so I won't be offended!

I have KG (Knight of the Garter) in the suffix slot. It seems to work well.

Kathy: Categories actually do more than just provide information on a profile. The idea is that if everyone in the Knight of the Garter is in that category, you can see a list of all those profiles. See http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Categories. They're pretty awesome!

Beat me to the punch!  

Kathy, I do the exact same thing with the suffix.  As Lianne pointed out, this just allows you to group the profiles.

Sounds good. But there are other places that list KG's. Why would this
be a better place to find the list?

Well, this would show all the ones on WikiTree, with links to their profiles.

 

Also, this can be used for anything. For example, right now I'm working on place categories, which if used consistently would mean you could go to http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Winnipeg%2C_Manitoba and see all the WikiTree profiles of people who've lived in Winnipeg. There's all kinds of potential for this. People can be categorised by unit in the armed forces, etc. Much like how this group has used categories for people in noble houses.
