On another completely different change of topic, I am currently working on
a piece for next week's Wednesday New York Times Dining section which looks
at, get ready and don't laugh, the influence of campus food on the high
school senior's college choice. Yes, I know that academics, amenities,
location, and other factors come in higher up on the hog, so to speak but,
as the Colby College Director of Admissions explained it, there's a very
good reason why he has 15 grand a year in his budget to buy meals for
visiting parents and kids -- they'll be eating the food for the next four
years and they want it to be good and feel good about eating it.
So, if any of you, preferably not in PA, CA, MA, or ME, has a young 'un
who's been biting their nails this week waiting for that envelope and who
would like to chat with me tomorrow, it would be an enormous help.
The direct mail is msan...@suscom-maine.net and the phone 207-729-8436.
Please trust that I come in peace and never, ever make anyone seem or sound
foolish, however silly the topic.
Michael

On a totally different topic:
Just watching the history channel with my teenager and who should
come on but DON WIldman! So so fun to hear his voice and see him
talking up a storm about the amazing underground tunnels of NYC.
Perhaps the rest of you have seen him already-- I was stuck in my
seat with a smile on my face. I'm so proud of my classmates on so
many levels- this just adds one more.
Cornelia.

PS: I do have two Westtown class of '08ers in the story. Going for
geographical diversity, always popular with the editor....

Sorry, but when interviewing minors for publication, discretion is the
better part of valor--until the story appears.
