Minimum Wage Campaign

As you may have heard, NDP MPP Cheri DiNovo tabled Bil 150 in Queens Park to raise the minimum wage in Ontario to $10/hour.   The Minimimum Wage campaign has been touring all over Ontario and we have organized a petition table in the UCC Atrium this week.   We will be tabling in the UCC Atrium monday-wednesday (19th-21st) from 9:30am.-3:30 pm.  Please come by to sign the petition, grab some leaflets or stickers and find out how you can support the minimum wage campaign.  For more information on the campaign please visit www.amillionreasons.ca or http://ontariondp.com/raisethewage/.

    

Al-Asqa Dinner

The local riding associations and the NDP Middle-East Committee have organized an evening to examine and promote freedom of religion and respect in Canada and abroad.  The Al-Asqa dinner will feature Alexa McDonough (NDP Peace and Foreign Affairs Critic), Sandra Ruch (Women's Coalition for Peace in Isreal), Irene Mathyssen (MP for London-Fanshawe) and other guest speakers.  It will be held this Saturday March 24th in the London Muslim Mosque (151 Oxford St. W.) at 5:45 pm.   Tickets are $10 and will be available in the UCC Atrium at the Minimum Wage petition table, at the club exec. meeting this wednesday or you can call Rob Hepburn to reserve a ticket at 519-639-0974.  All ticket proceeds go to benefit Palestinian orphans through IRFAN Canada.

 

Exec. Meeting.

Our bi-weekly exec. meeting will be held this wednesday (the 21st) from 5:30-7:00 pm.  As always, all club members are welcome and encouraged to attend.  The agenda and conference room number will be e-mailed shortly (i.e. tomm.).

 

Club Fundraiser Dinner!

We will be having a club fundraiser dinner next thursday March 29th to replenish our club bank account after a very busy year!   It will be held in the 'Huron Room' at Huron College from 6:30-9:30 pm.  There will be guest speakers, a raffle, delicious catered food and cash bar!  Tickets are $20 for students and will be available this week at Info-source in the UCC or from exec. members.  More details will be advertised soon!
