Well,

let me first start off with welcoming you all to this new group.

I am hoping that we can come together and be able to do projects that
are impossible to do alone. To learn from and teach one another the
various aspects of paper and book arts that are missing or neglected in
the SCA today.

I would love to hear what you are interested in doing, and any
qusetions, or roadblocks you have run into while studying your field of
interest.

This group is open to any book related art form, from how to make the
paper and vellum inside, to how to decorate the outside. I am not an
expert on every step, nor do I expect any of you to be experts either.
If you have any related expertise, please let us know.

I have no expertise in any form of the binding arts. But it is an area
I've long been interested in. I hope to learn a lot.

I've always thought it would be fun to make an itty bitty book to hang
from my belt.....sort of an autograph book with a few pages of pretty
illuminated letters and words of wisdom from my friends. Lots of blank
pages....a Stambuch.....Livre d'Amis --that sort of thing. I probably
can make a pretty silver enameled box to put it in. Or make some
enameled decorative panels for the face. The rest is pure wishful thinking.

Anyone else have wishes and hopes?

Greetings,

I also have very little experience, and wish to learn more. Currently
colege and work limit my SCA activities, but I still want to
participate whenever possible.

I also would love to make a small illuminated book, something
reminiscent of a Book of Hours. I have never done any bookbinding or
illuminating, but it's something that I would like to pursue (some
day). Currently, I am attending college and working, and a sprained
ankle has me laid up at the moment, so I don't get to many SCA events,
although I am attempting to change that.

Greetings Cedric, Diane, Cateline, and Staffan,

I'm glad to see so many have joined. I think that interest in the book
and scribal arts is the most important component, skills can be
learned. I am hoping that getting us all together will help all of us
learn (including me).

I would love to hear from the rest of you. Even if it is just your
name, principality, and shire, canton or barrony.
