Right so as usual i have a few suggestions.... it sounds like the house
is in a bit of a state, and it turns out i have a free weekend coming
up which i wasn't expecting.. soooooo... i am going to ring vintage
lady and tell her that i intend to move in on the 16th and that all the
problems with the house need to be sorted by then - i shall explain
that we don't expect to be sharing our living room with slugs, and that
we would like the whole house to be cleaned before anyone else moves
in. If the house isn't clean enough then my sister (who i intend to
drag along with me - she loves cleaning!) and i will clean the house
until it is a nice place to live! When i meet her to get the keys i
will try and sort out bills and stuff, i think she's the sort of lady
who can only cope with one problem at a time.
And on the internet thing again... ugh there's so many deals! BUT i've
found another one - with AOL. It's 29.99 a month, without
download/usage limits. Doesn't include the phone unfortunately... but
it comes with a free modem so we won't have to fork out for that and
there is no connection fee. Unfortunately you have to have a 12month
contract, but i'm sure we could pass this onto the next tenants at the
end of the year.
£100 is ridiculous for a microwave and some internet stuff... but i'm
betting there is a decent router (that will cope with 7 connections)
and enough wiring for the house. I think we should offer them £25 for
the router and wiring, because lets face it they just want some money
for nothing basically - they're never going to be able to use it again.
Most routers that would suit our needs cost £60-70 so we might have to
go up to say £35 in order to get it but i think they should agree to
that, if we *bend the truth slightly* and tell them that have found a
decent router for £40 elsewhere and we'll buy that if they don't agree
to our price then i think we'll be sorted.
Let me know what you think... especially in terms of contacting the
landlady. Did you speak to her about the state of the house at all
Jamie? If no one disagrees to me ringing her by Tuesday then I'll phone
her then cos i'm going away on Thursday.
